A timeless holiday for anyone that serves as an instant pick-me-up when you are feeling tired or under the weather is a trip to the beach. If you are thinking about taking a couple of days off from all the days stuck in lockdown and working from home, a quick trip to the beach should do the trick. But if you are going to nip to the beach and back for either a long weekend or a day out, here is a quick list of how to prepare for a day or two at the beach.

Packing for the Trip

If you pack the right clothes you don't have to worry about over-packing or under-packing. Make sure your list includes a swimsuit or a pair in case you are staying for more than a couple of days. Think about how you are going to get there and pack a set of clothes that you will be wearing on your journey to the beach and your journey back. Afterwards, all you need is an extra pair of comfortable clothes that you can either wear over your swimsuit or once you change out of your wet clothes. Make sure to have a jumper on hand in case you stay until after dusk and it gets a little chilly. A pair of good footwear is a must. Flipflops will do the trick and a pair of sea shoes if you have any. Anything else that you take with you will solely have to depend on things to do at the beach and what you have on your agenda.

Take Sun Protection

Do not go in the sun without adequate protection. You will need a sunscreen that is at least 15 SPF and offers protection for both UVA and UVB. Check at a local pharmacy if you aren't sure. Make sure that you apply it on all parts of your body that can be exposed, including your lips. Make sure to reapply during the middle of the day especially if you go in the water or if you sweat a lot. Take a good sunhat and a pair of UV repelling sunglasses.

Bring Something to Sit On

Bring something comfortable with you to sit on. A beach towel or a foldable chair, something in which you can sit for a long time means you will be willing to kick back and relax which is the whole purpose of your beach trip. It could be a large thing for the whole family or a small chair that you like to sit in and read under the shade of an umbrella.

Bring a First Aid Kit

Having a first aid kit with you is a must regardless of how frequently full of crowds the beach you go to is. It can be a very basic bag that you put together yourself containing band aids, cold cream, anti-diarrhoea medicine, pain relief pills, a thermometer and antihistamines or any other emergency medicine you might need like an EpiPen.

Bring a Waterproof Bag

Bring at least one water-resistant bag into which you can either pile in your wet clothes or put your electronics and wallet away in case it rains or gets splashed. A day at the beach means there is a guarantee that you will get wet. Stash your valuables in the waterproof bag and you don't have to worry about them anymore.

Bring Plenty of Things to Play With

Visit sites like Sandy Beach Trips to find out what sort of activities are available in the vicinity of the beach you will be going to. Make a list of things you want to do and take the necessary equipment, like snorkelling gear with you. If you are planning to spend the day catching some rays and relaxing, make sure you bring a book or your favourite music playlist along.
