The surreal fairy streams, sand dunes, kite surfing and pristine landscapes make Mui Ne worth exploring all on your own. The city is fairly safe for solo travellers, and famous enough to have plenty of amenities to find creature comforts. Whether you are backpacking or looking for a region in Vietnam for a couple of days, Mui Ne is ideal. Let’s talk about how to go on a solo trip to this beautiful city.

How to get to Mui Ne and where to stay?

You can board a sleeper bus from Nha Trang, or Ho Chi Minh and you can reach Mui Ne in a few hours. The sleeper buses are safe, but it is a good idea to travel during the day. You should however look for Mui Ne hotels before you get there. Check out hotels like Anantara Mui Ne Resort to see if you can get an offer.

How to get around in Mui Ne?

The best two methods for getting around in Mui Ne are cycling or riding a motorbike. The roads are in fairly good condition, and you won’t have to deal with as large a crowd as in Ho Chi Minh. You will enjoy pedalling near the shores of an evening as the sun sinks into the horizon. But, when you are planning to cover a bit of distance, it makes sense to hire a driver who would know the routes.

What to do in Mui Ne – fairy stream?

Fairy streams are surreal because you would never suspect that they exist. Unfortunately, no one has sighted real fairies around the fairy stream in Mui Ne. But the red sand and charming rock formations around the steady sprinkling flow of water make it look like something from an enchanted wood. The entrance to the stream is not obvious. Try to find the entrance at the beginning where the stream and the road meet. You can simply put your shoes in your bag and walk. This is because they don’t let anyone wear shoes to the stream. The route is pretty and makes for some Insta-worthy pictures. There is a waterfall at the end of your journey.

What to do in Mui Ne – sand dunes?

As hard as it is to imagine a sand dune in the middle of the city, such a thing exists in Mui Ne. There are white and red sand dunes out there, and you should visit both places. The sight red sand dune at sunset is one of those magical things you won’t forget easily. You can hire a driver to drive across the sand dunes – going up. You’ll catch views of miles of sand and a lake. You can also sandboard down the slope.

What to do in Mui Ne – Kitesurfing and Windsurfing?

There are two kite surfing seasons in Mui Ne. The summer season starts in May and lasts until October. This is the best time for beginners. The summer season winds tend to be mild. The winter season starting in late October and ending in March tends to present strong winds for the pros. You should however book yours early. If you’re a beginner, the morning is the best time for your Kite surfing lessons as the wind is lighter. You’ll find out that the main beach has the safest conditions for braving the wind.

How to enjoy food in Mui Ne?

Mui Ne is great for seafood lovers. You can buy fresh fish and seafood from fishermen at the harbour daily. Try some squid, clams in broth and shrimp. Their fish sauce is pretty good. You can also enjoy plenty of other Vietnamese dishes in this seaside town. Don’t forget to linger over a sunset meal and wait for the stars to dot the sky.
