The infuriating yet exciting capital of Thailand, Bangkok, has a character of its own. Travellers from every corner of the world visit the city hoping to get a unique experience. From budget travellers to business travellers and special interest travellers, Bangkok is visited by travellers throughout the year. A seasoned traveller knows what to pack and what not to pack for a Bangkok tour; however, if this is your first time, here's a guide to packing for your Bangkok tour.

1. Luggage

You should choose the right kind of luggage; the right kind depends on the duration of your trip and your interests. For a weekend, you can have a medium-sized carry-on, but if you are planning to spend a few days in Bangkok, you will need a carry-on and good-sized luggage; a business traveller's requirement may be different. If you are looking into adventures in Bangkok, you might need a quick getaway bag as well.

2. Packing gear

Just as important as finding the right luggage is finding the right packing gear. Packing gear helps you stay organized when travelling. If you get a hotel room with a small sink, you might need a hanging toiletry bag where you can store all your skincare products. Packing cubes are a great idea if you tend to overpack; you can put electronics in one cube, underpants in another and so on.

3. Flight essentials

You need a few flight essentials to make your journey comfortable. If you plan to get some sleep, you need a good sleep mask; the importance of a sleep mask cannot be stressed enough. A travel pillow is a solution if you tend to get neck cramps. You also need some socks to keep your feet from drying out.

4. Travel wallet

To keep all your documents safe, you need a travel wallet. Most tourists hang the travel wallet around their neck. Keep all your money, credit cards and debit cards in the travel wallet; having your money in your back pocket isn't a good idea. Also, don't carry all your money in your travel wallet, keep some money hidden under your clothes and some in your travel wallet, this way, if a terrible misfortune happens to you, you won't lose all your money.

5. Bangkok guidebook

You can always take a look at Travel Bangkok Now, but getting a guidebook can save you a lot of trouble if this is your first time visiting Bangkok. Find a good guidebook at least two months prior to the trip and figure out the things you'd like to do on your trip. This can help you come up with an excellent Bangkok itinerary.

6. Sunscreen and mosquito repellent

Bangkok is rife with mosquitos and other types of bugs. While you'll not catch malaria or another dangerous disease while travelling here, you need to find yourself a good mosquito repellent. Mosquito bites can be really irritating, and they can ruin all the fun. Apply the repellent at around 5 pm; this is when the mosquitoes are most active. Applying sunscreen before heading out is essential. Sun rays are really harsh here, and they can cause severe damage to your skin. Find a good sun lotion and slather your skin with it every morning before heading out for the day. Get yourself a sun hat and a scarf to cover your neck as well. Light, long-sleeved garments are the ideal choice of clothing for a Bangkok trip.

7. Travel insurance

Do not forget your travel insurance. Most travellers don't understand the importance of having travel insurance. Should you lose all your valuables or fall sick, having a good insurance plan can cover all or most of the damage.
