The ancient capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy is frequented by travellers throughout the year. Its historical character is what's alluring to tourists. Hillside adventures, visits to temples and museums, tea plantations, train rides and waterfalls are all going to be part of your Kandy tour. To have fun without any worries on your mind, you need to have all your essentials.

1.Accommodation

Kandy is replete with tourist accommodation. You have a lot of choices ranging from budget to mid-range to luxury accommodation; there are many guesthouses as well. You can also get in touch with a local tour operator or a website– an example would be Kandy Escapes – to find suitable accommodation.

2.Consider getting a hydro flask

This is going to be your lifesaver when you travel to Kandy. If you have a hydro flask, you can have cool water whenever you want, and it also reduces the use of plastic bottles.

3.Waterproof phone cover

Investing in a waterproof phone cover is a must if you plan to do some waterfall hiking in Kandy. A waterproof phone keeps your phone safe, and it also allows you to use your phone on the move. These are not very expensive, and you can get a cheap one just for your Kandy tour.

4.Power bank

You cannot afford to not have your power bank with you on your travels. You are going to use Google Maps on your phone to find your way around, and it's going to drain your battery in no time. So, you shouldn't overlook the importance of a power bank.

5.Rain jackets

Sri Lanka is known for its excellent weather conditions, but you can expect the occasional outburst of rain. You need to have a rain jacket in your adventure backpack to protect yourself from waterfall spray and occasional torrential downpour.

6.Selfie stick

To get your whole group into a single shot, you need a selfie stick.

7.Bug spray and mosquito repellent

You are going to need your mosquito repellent to prevent mosquito bites. Kandy has a tropical climate, which makes a perfect habitat for mosquitos. You are also at the risk of catching dengue fever, so make sure you don't leave your mosquito repellent at home.

8.Sunscreen

Bring your bottle of sunscreen on your trip to Kandy. If it's too big for your travel bag, you can pour some into a small travel size bottle. Consider getting a tub of aloe vera gel as well; this is an excellent remedy for sunburnt skin.

9.Toiletries

Your hotel will most likely offer you the basic toiletries you need, but you can always bring your own toiletries according to your personal preference.

10.Sandals and flipflops

Pack a pair of comfortable sandals and flipflops. In Kandy, you'll always have to take off your footwear, and if you are wearing sandals, it'll make it easier.

11.Sarongs

Sarongs are a great bathing suit cover-up, and they also come in handy when you want to visit temples. You won't be allowed entrance into temples if you are in your shorts, but if you have a sarong in your travel bag, you can just wrap it around and enter the temple.

12.Comfortable clothes

Sri Lanka has hot temperatures throughout the year regardless of the season. To survive the Sri Lankan weather, you are going to need warm weather clothes. A few tank tops, shorts and sundresses are what should be on your packing list. Make sure all your clothes are made of light material, and that they cover your shoulders and knees. While Sri Lanka isn't a place where you have to stick to a strict dress code, but wearing revealing clothes is the guarantee of getting a lot of unwanted attention.

13.Travel documents

Make sure you have all your travel documents safely packed in your bag and try and get soft copies of them as well.
