How to Get to and Around Quy Nhon
Tips for Reaching and Travelling Around Beach Capital Quy Nhon
As one of Vietnam's emerging beach holiday hotspots, Quy Nhon is fast becoming everyone's favourite seaside getaway option. Offering visitors a more tranquil and picturesque location for a beach getaway than Thailand's busier and most congested beach towns, Quy Nhon is also a more affordable vacation option for all. Here are some tips on how to arrive in this little piece of paradise and enjoy sightseeing activities using public and private transport links available to tourists.
1. Getting There by Air
While it may not be the most affordable option available to those heading to Quy Nhon, flying in does offer visitors a chance to glimpse the breathtaking geography of the area. Those who wish to fly straight to Quy Nhon will find that one must catch a domestic flight from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City as the former has 4 daily flights and the latter offers ten daily trips to Quy Nhon. Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Jetstar are some of the best domestic carriers available to travellers and they all land at the Phu Cat Airport located 30km from Quy Nhon city. Shuttle buses and taxis to the downtown area can be found at the airport.
2. By Bus or Train
Those who prefer to travel to Quy Nhon by train can hop on a train bound for the Quy Nhon Railway Station from the Vietnamese capital, which offers a 13-hour overnight train to the destination. As this is the only train available from Ho Chi Minh City, visitors may be better off catching a train from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Dieu Tri Railway Station, which lies just 25 minutes away from the heart of Quy Nhon town. This journey takes ten to twelve hours from the capital while from Hanoi it takes 20 hours to reach the final destination. The least expensive way to travel to Quy Nhon is via bus. There are sleeper buses departing from the capital's Mien Dong Bus Station that arrive at Quy Nhon Bus Station after a 12 to 14-hour trip.
3. Driving to Quy Nhon
Driving to the beach hub is only an option for those who are based in a city near Quy Nhon as it is impractical to take a road trip from Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi due to the distance. Those who are holidaying in Nha Trang and Hoi An, for example, can easily arrange for a car to drive them to Avani Quy Nhon Resort or any other Vietnam beach resorts in Quy Nhon.
If you're travelling from a nearby city and like the comfort and freedom of your own car, you can hire a private car or minivan for your trip. These can be arranged through hotels from Hoi An and
4. Motorbike Rental and Motorbike Taxis
Tourists who wish to explore the seaside hamlet at their own pace will find that renting a motorbike is the most efficient way to go about it as the rental costs are hardly expensive. One can arrange a bike rental via the hotel provided that one has an international driving license. Motorbike taxis are also common in Quy Nhon and are great for short transfers as bikes fit the roads and byroads of the area better than more cumbersome vehicles.
5. Taxi Services
Taxis are usually found near the main bus station in Quy Nhon and the most popular taxi operators are the Mai Linh Group and Sun Taxi. Both of these operators provide metered taxis although hailing cabs from a street corner can be difficult in this part of Vietnam. The best course of action is to arrange for a taxi via your hotel.
6. Bike Around
Those with a central location in Quy Nhon can rent a bicycle and pedal their way around the city. The area is conducive for cycling as a 5km long beachfront promenade is also part of the landscape.
