One of the best things about a vacation in the Maldives, if you are a fan of water sports, is that there is literally no place else on earth where you could get involved with the sea in such a variety of ways as you can when you are in the archipelago. If you are a lover of water sports and water in general, here are some fun things to try out when you visit, guaranteed to make sure you have a thrilling time in the Maldives.

1. Wakeboarding

The best time to go wakeboarding in the Maldives is from April to October. Wakeboarding is an exhilarating sport that will allow you to walk on water with the aid of a road and some help from a motorboat. The key is to be able to maintain your balance, so be prepared to fall into the water many times before you get the hang of it. It is an adrenaline-pumping sport that many enjoy and one you should try when in the Maldives.

2. Flyboarding

Flyboarding is a bit risky but a very exciting water sport. If you are a beginner, you should follow all precautions and listen to an instructor. Even if you aren't a beginner, follow all protocols and make sure you wear all the provided safety gear. The best time to try this sport out is between May and October.

3. Fun Tubing

Fun Tubing is also called Banana Boating and is quite a fun sport. It will put you and the members of your party on a giant inflatable that zooms across the waves at high speed. It is a bumpy and fun ride that is most suitable from April to October and takes about 20 minutes.

4. Parasailing

Parasailing is one of the Maldives water sports where you can just fly away. It will give you a bird's eye view of the surrounding islands and beautiful blue Indian Ocean as you drift away among the clouds. The best thing is that your parachute will be tied to a motorboat, so you are constantly anchored.

5. Windsurfing

Windsurfing is something you can find a lot in the Maldives especially on resorts the likes of Adaaran Select Meedhupparu. It's best to go out windsurfing during the seasons of May to October when there's a bit of a pick-up of the breeze compared to normal sunny days in the Maldives. You will have to practice for a bit before you get the hang of it and once you do it is a lot of fun.

6. Catamaran Sailing

There's something extremely magical about catamaran sailing, especially during the sunset in the Maldives as you weave your way between the islands. This is not necessarily a sport and is highly recommended for those planning a honeymoon on the paradise archipelago. Don't forget to take a camera with you to capture the beautiful moments.

7. Kayaking

April to October, you can also try kayaking which is once again a slow water sport which will give you time to take in the surroundings and connect with your inner self. Try your hand at kayaking with dolphins and use it as an opportunity to push past the borders of your resort island. See the beautiful corals beneath you and the lush marine wildlife swirling around you. This is yet another sport that we recommend for honeymooning couples. Some kayaking ventures offer you a free kayak for two hours, so it won't cost you a fortune either. Ask your resort for more information before you set out.
