If you want to travel to Zambia, then you will be required to apply for a visa that would allow you to explore the country and have a good time. The nature of your visit to Zambia is the most important aspect to consider before you begin applying for a visa. So, make sure that you do a little bit of research online before you start the application process. Here are some basic pointers to get you started.

Who Requires a Zambia Visa?

Located in southern Africa, Zambia is a country famous for its safaris, beautiful natural wonders and lush and abundant wildlife. Zambia receives thousands of tourists every year, especially ones that love nature and want to explore the natural beauty of the country. Everyone who visits the country is required to have a visa unless you belong to the list of countries exempt from a visa or from another list of countries that allow you to apply for a visa on arrival.

Types of Zambia Tourist Visas

The Zambian government has officially issued a total of six types of visas to foreign nationals entering the country. The Single-Entry Visa would allow the holder to enter into the country once during the visa issued period while the Double Entry Visa would allow the holder to enter twice. A Multiple Entry Visa is issued for those who want to come into the country many times during the period of issue. Another type is the Zambia Transit Visa which is only issued if you are passing through Zambia on your way to another country. This visa is only valid for a total of 7 days. The Zambia Day Tripper Visa is something you don’t see everywhere and is issued for one day for tourists who wish to visit Victoria Falls and Kazungula Border Controls. The last type of visa is called a KAZA Univisa. Let’s elaborate further on this later.

Visa Requirements

If you are planning to spend some time at one of the hotels in Livingstone Zambia, you would need to apply for an entry visa. The main requirements include a passport-sized photo, copies of your passport and return flight ticket. If you are applying for a tourist visa. The criteria may differ if you are applying for a Transit, Business, Work or Student Visa. You will need to visit the embassy website for the particulars but keep in mind that these may change without prior notice so make sure that you are up to date before you begin the application process. The documents you are expected to provide may also depend on your nationality and the strength of your passport with Zambian authorities.

KAZA Univisa

This brings attention to the KAZA Univisa. This is a joint visa between Zimbabwe and Zambia. It can be obtained on arrival at either airport. The visa is issued only to a total of fifty-nine countries so check the list to see if you are eligible. The KAZA Univisa holders can spend up to thirty days flitting between Zimbabwe and Zambia but you can only use the border crossings at Victoria Falls, Kazungula and the Livingstone and Lusaka airports.

How to Apply

You can either apply for a Zambia visa online through the eVisa Application System or the Zambian consulate or embassy in your country of origin. To apply online, you must first create an account on the website and complete the application with electronic versions of your documents uploaded into the necessary portals. After that, you are required to pay the visa fee and wait for the process to conclude.

If you are applying physically, then you should first call the consulate or embassy and speak to them about requirements, operational hours etc.
