The Maldives is an archipelago. It’s made up of 26 coral atolls, which are clusters of a little over 1000 islands. The place is a tropical haven of sun, sand, and sea. And while there is plenty to do, experience and see in the Maldives, this article will show you that four days is all you need to enjoy the Maldives when you are on a tight schedule.

Explore the Capital Male Island

Male is the capital island and you will first arrive there as it is home to the international airport. Male is a must for understanding the Maldives history, its people, and the present. Places of note to visit in Male include the Old Friday Mosque Hukuru Miskiiy. It is the oldest mosque on the archipelago and a quaint shrine to explore. The walls are made of pink coral and at the back is a cemetery home to past sultans, kings, queens, and national heroes. You must stop by the Maldives National Museum, pay a visit to the fish market for some local insight, and also explore the craft markets where you can pick up souvenirs. Next, head over to the manmade beach and enjoy the carnival-like atmosphere. End your day on Male with tea at a local kiosk where you can even sample delicious local snacks.

Plan a Night-fishing Excursion

Night fishing is a unique attraction in the Maldives. While a deep-sea fishing trip in Maldives too is a thrill and often sought out by tourists, night fishing is unique. Guests at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu can organise these trips through the hotel. Set out at sunset and enjoy the views from your spot on the ocean. Head out to the nearest reef and cast your hooks. Enjoy spectacular sights of the sky lighting up in an orange glow and wait for the stars to come out. The experience is one to cherish as you fish under the light of the moon and take back your catch to be cooked into a delicious meal for dinner the next day.

Plan an Island-hopping Tour

Enjoy the day island hopping as you explore the atoll your Maldives resort is based at. Island hopping tours are ideal for excursions across the glistening surface of the Indian Ocean. Stop at an isolated island and enjoy snorkelling and swimming in the calm waters there. You can choose to trek into the wilderness and explore the island too. Next head out to the nearest local island where you can observe the simple lifestyles of the islanders. Chat to the elders and maybe even get invited to sample traditional home-cooked food.

Dive and Snorkel

You can spend an entire day scuba diving and be amazed by the beauty of the Maldives below the waves. The Maldives is home to some of the best dive sites in the world and over 500 species of marine life. You can lookout for the elusive whale shark often spotted around the archipelago and even swim with giant manta rays, large schools of fish, and friendly dolphins. You could even take a quick diving lesson and learn fast from the expert instructors at the private island resorts in the Maldives and enjoy your first scuba diving experience there.

Indulge in a Romantic Beach Dinner

Dining by design is offered by most of the resorts in the Maldives. You can enjoy a tailor-made dining experience on the beach, which is ideal for the romantics on a quick break to the Maldives. Either way part of your quick four-day tour of the Maldives will include indulging in plenty of fresh seafood too. And so, you see, there is plenty to do on a short four-day tour of the Maldives.
