Fun In The Sun Southern California
LA Trip Santa Cruz Boardwalk
Life can use a little Vitamin Sea. It brings a glow to the skin and a kiss to the nose. In Santa Monica there is not just beautiful beach, but for the fun, thrill seekers an amusement park is at their feet. The park is located on a peer over the ocean and giving amazing backdrops for photos from the rides.
The picture above was taken by the park, but you are able to take many of your own pictures on your journey through the games, rides, and food.
Many different television shows are filmed in Southern California as well. One of these was the fun Let's Make a Deal where people are able to dress up like Halloween and go in front of the camera to win prizes.
Let's Make a Deal with Wayne Brady
My costume was a butterfly as I did not have a lot of time to gather a costume and only was able t0 get to the dollar store. I did sit in the front row and my dog came with me as an angel. I was never chosen to go for a game, but my dog was asked to be the center on frame when they came back from a commercial.
A few years before this visit I came down to LA with a group of friends and we had tickets to the Jay Leno show. We had seats in the front row. It was when Jerry Seinfeld was just coming on TV. He did once of his first interviews. We were sitting about 5 ft. away from him. Then Vince Gil was the musical guest. He performed right in front of me. The last person that was on was Rush Limbach.
Getting tickets to a show when you are down in the area is worth the time. It will give you many lasting memories.
One of my favorite places to eat when we where down in California was Bubba Gump's. This came from the movie Forest Gump and there are artifacts from the movie all over. The waiters ask questions from the movie for items.
Let's make a deal was a different ticket. People would stand in line for hours waiting for a ticket if they didn't already have one. I didn't have any costume, but stopped by a dollar store and did the best I could. We sat in the front row, and I had my support animal Mocha there. She wore an angel costume. When the camera went to commercial the camera panned in on Mocha. He told me to sit really still for the shot. I never could find the episode, and didn't get chosen to do a deal, but it was really fun.
Bubba Gump's
I love the Seafood Mac and Cheese, and they have amazing Lemonades. Most of the waiters were aspirating actors. They were fun and attentive. They also really worked for their tips. It is definitely a memorable restaurant and it is located on the piers or close to the water.
Swimming is another activity to do when you are staying in a hotel in California. At the La Quinta Inn LA the pool is on top of the hotel. This was cool. We could see the airplanes flying into the airport when we were swimming. The pool was a welcome cool during the heat of the day.
There are also so many more places to visit when in Southern California. What I have shared is low cost ideas. If you want to go with ideas that are a little more costly there is Universal Studio's, Disneyland and Disneyland California, and there is also the San Diego Zoo. Each of these places can take several day's to get the full experience. Universal Studio's has so many fun rides and Hollywood sets, Disneyland has kid rides as well as adult rides with Disneyland California having more of the thrill rides. San Diego Zoo is so huge that you need good walking shoes to see the whole site. There is also a safari that you can do in the San Diego area. Up the coast there is an amazing aquarium you can see. The Mantuary Bay area is amazing to see as well with the cannery area. You can rent a family side by side bike and ride through the city and the beach. There is also surf board lessons, and wake boards you can ride.
In another article I will discuss things in Northern California. This is where we call home. It has the desired weather for our family as well as amazing parks and things to do.
