Nestled between the Bay and Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor is the perfect place to enjoy a homey stay at a bed and breakfast. Here are some bed and breakfasts that offer a dreamy Bar Harbor experience.

According to AirBnB’s 2021 Travel Report, 2.7 million tourists visited Acadia Nat’l Park in 2020 during the pandemic. So, they expect those numbers to rise significantly this summer.

Castlemaine Inn

Castlemaine Inn is run by Dan and Dede Daigle. It is located at 39 Holland Avenue in Bar Harbor, Maine. Castlemaine features stunning architecture which reflects its history. It was built in 1886 to serve as the summer home of Baron Hengelmueller, the Austro-Hungarian Ambassador, and his wife, the Baroness.

Today, Castlemaine Inn is a beautiful and quiet bed and breakfast. It is a short walk to Bar Harbor Beach. Visitors can walk along the Shore Path that follows the shoreline to take in the views.

Room rates are $109 to $299 per night, depending on the season. Amenities include TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, off-street parking, and a fireplace.

A complete, hot breakfast is provided from 7 am to 9 am. Check-in time from 3 pm to 9 pm, and check-out time is by 10:30 am.

Camalyne Mondragon runs the Canterbury Cottage in Bar Harbor, ME. It is located at 12 Roberts Avenue in Bar Harbor, Maine. Guests will have a comfortable stay with a gracious host. Centrally located in downtown Bar Harbor, visitors can experience the local vibe.

Canterbury Cottage recommends Oli’s Trolley, which offers a fully narrated tour of the town and Acadia Nat’l Park starting at $13 per person.

Canterbury Cottage is pet-friendly for some rooms, so bring the whole family. Room rates are $89 to $209 per night, depending on the season. Breakfast is from 8 am to 9 am daily. Amenities include air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi, and fireplace. Check-in time is from 4 pm to 7 pm and check-out by 10 am.

Try to get the Cottage Room as that has a king-sized bed, a jacuzzi, and is pet-friendly. The Garden Room is also pet-friendly but only has a shower.

The Holbrook House B&B

Michelle and Eric Allvin run the Holbrook House. It is located at 74 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor. Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor. Built in 1879 to house summer lodgers from Boston and New York, Holbrook House has undergone many renovations. The current owners continue in the tradition by frequently renovating rooms during the winter off-season.

Thus, Holbrook offers various room styles to fit guests’ needs and vacation styles, including several thoroughly modern and newly renovated rooms available.

Room rates are $129 to $249 per night in the spring, $189 to $309 per night in the summer, and $149 to $249 per night in the fall. Amenities include TV, air conditioning, and a home-cooked breakfast. Some rooms have a private deck with a view of the gardens.

Check-in time is from 3 pm to 6 pm, and check-out time is 11 am. There are two seatings for breakfast, one at 8 am and at 9 am. Plus, you can also request a to-go breakfast.

Saltair Inn Waterfront B&B

Matt and Kristy run the Saltair Inn Waterfront B&B. It is located at 121 West Street in Bar Harbor. Although renovated, the Saltair Inn still retains Victorian elements from its original design. It sits on a one-acre waterfront property that connects to nearby Bar Harbor Island at low tide and has a formal dining room overlooking the Bay.

Room rates are $125 to $265 per night in the winter, $251 to $446 per night from May through October, and $157 to $314 per night in the Spring and late Fall.

Amenities include air conditioning, TV, off-street parking, Wi-Fi, and fireplace. A full breakfast is served between 8 am and 9:30 am. Check-in time from 3 pm to 6 pm, and check-out time is by 11 am.
