Hanh Thong Tay church in Ho Chi Minh city

Located in Ward 11 of Go Vap District, Hanh Thong Tay is not only the largest church in Ho Chi Minh City, but also a famous building in Vietnam. The church was built from 1921 to 1924 in the architectural style of a circular dome, modeled after the Basilica of Saint Vitale in Italy, the interior is decorated with precious stones and wood. In the sanctuary, there are three marble altars, the face of which is a block of white marble, carved around in gold marble. This Saigon church is farther from the city center than the above addresses, located on Tran Binh Trong street, in Ward 2, District 5.

Huyen Sy church

Huyen Sy is a Catholic church in Ho Chi Minh City that is more than 100 years old with the name Church of Saint Philip the Apostle. This is an ideal destination for tourists who love a peaceful atmosphere, located in Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1. Located in District 5, Cha Tam Saigon Church is officially known as Saint Francis Xavier Church with Gothic architecture, many large-sized windows, looking like churches in Europe. However, Chinese cultural elements are still presented and merged into such as the church entrance built in the style of a three-way gate, the name of the church inscribed in Chinese characters, and so on.

Tan Dinh church

Meanwhile, Tan Dinh Church in District 3 has outstanding beauty with extremely vibrant pastel pink color. This Saigon church was built from 1870 - 1876, in Gothic style, with decorative details influenced by Roman and Baroque styles. The interior of the church is quite superficial with two Gothic columns, the left is where the pedestals of female saints are located, and the right is the male saints’ pedestals. Another church in Ho Chi Minh City, District 3, built during the French colonial period is Ky Dong church, with neoclassical architecture with round arches.

Chi Hoa church

Located in Ward 7 of Tan Binh District, Chi Hoa Church has French Gothic architectural style but is greatly simplified, built by Bishop Mossard in 1890. In recent years, Chi Hoa church is famous for its holiness, said to be very inspiring, anyone who comes to pray is also answered by God. Meanwhile, built between 1922 and 1928, Saint Jeanne d'Arc is another prominent church in Ho Chi Minh City, located in District 5, featuring a statue of this saint perched above the main archway.

St. Joseph cathedral
