Ayana Resort and Spa, Bali: Incredible in Every Sense

The sights, sounds and serenity will lure you here.

The sights, sounds and serenity will lure you here. But it’s the sheer luxury, bliss and beauty of this hotel that will make you fall in love with Bali.

It’s setting itself will take your breath away. A sea-splashed rocky promontory in Bali which commands one of a kind coastal views and extreme privacy. Around it is the unspoilt Kubu beach of golden sand where you can steal a seasonal swim and luscious greenery of coconut plantations that you will not tire of.

It is a country stunner. The hotel is reminiscent of traditional Balinese design with a touch of modern flair. With ascending steps through the lobby which take you to the terraced restaurants and gardens where an infinity pool merges with the dazzling ocean—it blends perfectly into the tropical environment that surrounds.

It is exclusive, private and offers the most supreme levels of comfort. The rooms with the most dramatic views are peppered with Balinese charm and exude a tropical modernist feel. Expect classical handcrafted furnishings and luxurious bathrooms. Every modern amenity will be available to you as well.

The spa is truly sensational. It is inspired by Balinese designs and crafted to heighten the senses of relaxation. Here you can choose from a wide variety of Ayurvedic treatments in luxe suites overlooking the ocean. The spa features treatment rooms, Jacuzzi, steam shower, aromatic sauna, and a small cafe for the health-conscious and the largest Aquatonic pool in the world. There is an exclusive area for reflexology, manicures and pedicures.

They also have an array of different local activities such as the traditional Balinese dance every Tuesday and Weaving sessions, cooking classes, rice plantation programs, and beach picnics to help you feel like a local.

With 12 swimming pools, a shopping arena (with a salon and a wedding dress boutique), this property truly stole my heart.

As for the gourmet delights—your every last desire will be satisfied. The chefs at Ayana have created exceptionally well-curated menus for all of their 19 restaurants highlighting fresh ingredients and high-quality produce promising delicious goodness with every bite you take.

From Japanese to Indian, they have it all. My favourite restaurant amongst all was Padi. This Indian restaurant offered me a fine selection of food. From Raita and Papad to Breads and Biryani, they ensure that you don’t feel homesick. Chef Ranjeet (originally from Calcutta) ensures that the quality of the food is topnotch and the food melts in your mouth.

The Kadai Paneer, Potato Onion Bharwan Kulcha, Biryani and Raita were cooked with such delicate care that it could satisfy a food critic like me! And surprisingly, the food doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket. A regular meal for two in this restaurant will cost you about Rp 450,000 ($32). The Bento Box is also highly recommended.

I strongly suggest you indulge in the private dining experience that can be arranged in several romantic locations set in intimate venues such as the breathtaking private pier or under the canopy of an ancient Javanese Joglo.

Ayana Resort and Spa makes every moment memorable. Go on cultural visits, take a tour of the 90-hectare property, or spend the day by the pool. Wander down to the rock bar and relax with cocktails accompanied by the sounds of waves crashing as the sun goes down—indulge unapologetically.

‘Getting away from it all’ takes on a whole new meaning here. It’s incredible, I told you!
