
Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean.
Cidade Velha
Situated on the island of Santiago, Cidade Velha is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the oldest European settlement in the tropics and was founded in 1462. At one time it was a thriving hub for the transatlantic slave trade and a stopover for explorers and merchants.
The town offers such highlights as Fort Real de Sao Filipe. Visitors enjoy exploring the ruins of the old fort.
Covo-Paul-Ribeira da Torre Natural Park

Situated on Santo Antao Island, Covo-Paul_Ribeira da Torre Natural Park is known for its verdant valleys, steep cliffs, and terraced farming. It is the place to see migratory birds. Hikers and nature lovers enjoy the rugged terrain and the breathtaking landscapes.
Monte Verde

Monte Verde is situated on São Vicente Island, near the city of Mindelo. It is the highest peak on the island and has become a popular hiking destination. Visitors can walk along trails that lead them through lush vegetation and past volcanic rock formations. At the summit the views are amazing and include the city of Mindelo, beaches, and neighboring islands. Monte Verde is also known for its biodiversity, with a variety of endemic plants and birds.
Morro de Areia Nature Reserve

Morro de Areia Nature Reserve, located on the island of Boa Vista, is a vital ecological area known for its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity. It serves as a critical nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles and protects various endemic species and unique sand dune formations.
Pico do Fogo

Pico do Fogo is situated on the island of Fogo. It is the highest point in Cape Verde and one of the most iconic natural landmarks in the country. This volcano last erupted in 2014. Visitors can hike to the summit for breathtaking views of the island and the Atlantic Ocean.
The starting point is the town of Cha das Caldeiras at the base of the volcano, known for its vineyards.
Praia de Chaves

Praia de Chaves is a stunning beach located on the island of Boa Vista and is known for its soft golden sands and clear turquoise waters. Stretching approximately 5 kilometers, it offers a tranquil environment ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and various water sports. The southern part of the beach is included in the Morro de Areia Nature Reserve, enhancing its natural beauty.
Salinas of Pedra de Lume

Situated in the crater of an extinct volcano, the Salinas of Pedra de Lume on Sal Island is one of the most unique natural landmarks in Cape Verde. Evaporation of seawater formed salt flats that created a surreal landscape with bright white salt crystals against dark volcanic rock. Visitors can float in the salty waters, which have therapeutic properties.
Santa Maria Beach

Situated on Sal Island, Santa Maria Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Cape Verde. The beach is known for its golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Visitors enjoy sunbathing and swimming. You can participate in such activities as windsurfing, kitesurfing, and snorkeling. Along the beach are bars, restaurants, and resorts.
Serra Malagueta Natural Park

Situated in the northern part of Santiago Island, Serra Malagueta Natural Park is a protected area. It is known for its rugged mountains, deep valleys, and diverse flora and fauna. It is a place that hikers and nature lovers enjoy. There are marked trails leading hikers through lush forests. The park is home to endemic species of plants and birds.
Shipwreck of Aquiles

People enjoy the excitement of diving and snorkeling, particularly at the shipwreck of the Aquiles, which sank in 2009 beneath the waters near Sao Vicente Island. Here divers can find a colorful ecosystem and see various fish species. Guided dive tours are available.
