Raleigh on New Year's Eve, First Night

Up to around 75,000 people attend First Night Raleigh, which returns to downtown Raleigh on New Year's Eve. At 7 p.m., children may enjoy an acorn drop and fireworks, while adults can celebrate the evening until midnight with musical performances by Sonny Miles and Jack the Radio. The occasion continues to draw tourists from all around the world.

Past to Present, the newest outdoor display at Chavis Memorial Park highlights the park's history from 1809 until its most recent refurbishment. The display includes first-person narratives, images, and a comprehensive timeline of notable occasions, including the 1952 addition of a miniature train ride and the 1960s and later airing of Teenage Frolics.
