Planning a romantic getaway is a fun and exciting experience. There are so many things to consider, like where to go, what to pack, what to do, and where to stay. Traveling during COVID-19 can complicate plans even more. However, it's not entirely impossible to travel during this pandemic. In fact, it may be just what you and your partner need during these unprecedented times. Here are six tips for planning the perfect romantic getaway.

1. Hash out the details

Before you even think of packing your bags, you should figure out the details of your trip first. There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to travel plans:

  • Where do you want to go?
  • How much will your trip cost?
  • Will you be flying or driving?
  • Will you get a hotel or rent a place?
  • Do you need a rental car?
  • How long will your trip be?

Once you figure out these things, it'll make planning the romantic aspect of your trip a lot more fun. No matter what kind of trip you're planning, if it's a spa weekend or an international trip, it's always a good idea to be prepared for the worst and obtain travel insurance. If you have a last-minute trip cancellation, need medical coverage during your trip, have rental car damage, or lose your luggage, travel insurance coverage is beneficial. So if you lose your passport while visiting those 15 must-see places in New Zealand, you'll be covered and have peace of mind.

2. Pack Accordingly

You're going on this getaway with the idea of it being "romantic" which means you should check out a lingerie shop ahead of time. Nothing says romantic getaway like a sexy lace bodysuit, or a new sexy bra and matching panty set. Treat yourself to some sexy lingerie and sleepwear before your travel date and your partner will definitely have a romantic time.

3. Put away the tech

This trip is meant for the two of you, so keep it that way by putting your technology to the side. Leave your phones in your room if you can, or keep them on airplane mode. The distraction of social media can be overwhelming at times and while you may be itching to share a picture of your delicious food, save it for later. Live in the moment with each other because that's all that matters right then.

4. Try something new

Even if you're visiting a familiar place, it's always fun to try something new. Step out of your comfort zones together and experience something different. It could be something as small as trying new food or sky diving together. When you're doing something new together it will create unforgettable memories and make your trip more enjoyable.

5. Use hotel resources

If you're staying at a hotel, take advantage of their resources. Tell them you're on a romantic getaway and they might have some recommendations on places to eat or activities you can do together. You can work with the hotel staff to set up reservations for dinner in town or help with transportation.

6. Enjoy your time together

The most important thing of all is to remember to just have fun together! The point of your trip is to spend time together, making memories, relaxing, and enjoying each other's company. No matter what happens, even if your baggage gets lost or something goes wrong, just let it go and put the emphasis on having a good time.

Making travel plans can be a bit overwhelming at times, but just picture the end result — you and your partner making memories together.
