Enjoy reading about Offshore Fishing Trips

There is a difference between offshore fishing and inshore fishing. Inshore fishing is when you go fishing but remain on the land. You can do this from a pier of the beach for example. As for offshore fishing, you tend to take a boat and go at least 9 miles into the ocean to fish. This is what makes offshore fishing so exciting and fun. But it is also what makes being prepared with the essentials that much more important. You don’t want to be stuck at sea having forgotten your fishing rod, because that would be a perfect way to ruin an otherwise perfect day. But fear not because in this article I will provide you with a checklist of essentials that you absolutely have to have with you to make sure your offshore fishing trip goes swimmingly -pun intended. So here are the 4 things you need to take with you on your offshore fishing trips.

#4- Full Fishing Gear

As I mentioned earlier you don’t want to be stuck at sea with nothing to fish for. So before you set sail make sure to have with you your full fishing gear. This means your fishing rod, your hook, your bait, your fishing net, and anything else you might need to reel in a big catch. Of course, if this is your first time fishing, and you are not sure what to take with you then you might want to read up about fishing trips a little before you go on your trip. Find a good source to read from, which ideally would be a fishing captain like Captain Rich Smith who will tell you everything you need to know about fishing.

#3- Your Personal Essentials

Remember, things can get messy at sea. One minute you might close to a big catch and the next thing you know you end up overboard. So that’s why you always want to be prepared. Pack with you your absolute essentials. Your essentials should be extra shoes, extra socks, extra pants, and a shirt. Just pack all of the extras. You might not get lucky with a catch early on so you’re probably going to be at sea for a while. That’s why it’s best you pack with you some sunscreen to protect you from all that time you’re going to spend under the scorching sun. Also, a hat and some sunglasses wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Other personal essentials can include insect repellant or bug spray, a knife, a first aid kit, and anything else you think might come in handy for when you’re out at sea.

#2- Something to Pass the Time

As I said, it might be a while before something starts pulling at your line so you’re going to want to have something to do to pass all that time before you do make a catch. Pack with you some board games, a deck of cards, some music speakers, and some refreshing beverages. Also, pack with you a swimsuit and take a dip if the waters allow it and the weather is willing.

#1- A Camera

I’m sure you’ve come across the many videos online of funny incidents that happen on fishing trips. Whether it’s someone falling overboard, or someone catching a fish only to lose it. I even watched a video recently of someone saving a sea turtle from the jaws of a shark. Whatever it is, you want to have a camera on board to film it or catch it happening in action. Also, you’re going to want a camera to capture your big catch and hang the picture up on your trophy wall.

So there you have it, the 4 things you need to take with you on your offshore fishing trips. Of course, feel free to add whatever else to the list that you see as important, especially if you are willing to do different activities that could include risks like offshore deep sea fishing. But most importantly be safe and smart. Plan out the trip to the best offshore fishing in the world beforehand and make sure you know where you’re sailing to and how you’re sailing back because the last thing you want to experience is getting lost at sea.
