1. Iguazu Falls

The mighty Iguazu Falls spans over 2.7 kilometers and is the result of 275 waterfalls and cataracts combining into one waterfall. Nestled along the borders of Argentina and Brazil, this waterfall is a huge South American tourist destination. The Iguazu Falls brings nations together with its massive size and wonder. 1,500 cubic meters of water flow from the falls every second, resulting in an awe-inspiring view. In 2011, Iguazu Falls was selected as one of the New Seven Wonder of Nature Competition winners.

2. Victoria Falls

This magnificent waterfall resides between the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe. During the rainy season more than 500 million cubic meters of water descend from the falls every minute. Victoria Falls is an extension of the Zambezi River and offers a curtain of roaring water. Visit any of the vantage points to view this spectacular waterfall in action.

3. Angel Falls

Angel Falls has been called the highest waterfall in the world with water descending down the 979-meter high cliff. Angel Falls is 15 times higher than well known Niagara Falls. This monster of a waterfall can be found in the Guayana Highlands of Venezuela. Surrounding the waterfall are beautiful wetlands and cliffs everywhere you look.

4. Detian Falls

Detian Falls is the largest waterfall in Asia with water rushing down a three-tiered cliff. This amazing waterfall can be found along the borders of China and Vietnam. The unique falls differ depending on the season with large streams of water flowing in the summer and just a small trickle in the winter. Make sure these falls are added to your bucket list and seen with your very own eyes.

5. Plitvice Falls

The Plitvice Falls are part of a large network of lakes and waterfalls in Croatia. These waterways can be found in the Plitvice Lakes National Park where tourists flock to see the breathtaking waterfalls. The park is made up of 16 terraced lakes, waterfalls, and a limestone canyon. Take a boat tour of the many lakes and waterfalls or hike through any of the trails in the park.

6. Yosemite Falls

Yosemite Falls is a 739.14 meters high waterfall located in Yosemite National Park in California, USA. The falls give a splendid view as one of the tallest waterfalls in North America. The best time to see Yosemite Falls is from November - July with the best views in May. The water dies down during the winter but still provides plenty of beautiful ice to see.

7. Gullfoss Falls

Gullfoss Falls is a unique sight with water plummeting down 32 meters into a deep canyon. This grand waterfall is part of the Golden Circle Tour in south Iceland. Gullfoss' water originates from the second largest iceberg in Iceland. The water then flows down a river and eventually over the falls. Come check out this arctic waterfall and discover the interesting history behind it.

8. Sutherland Falls

New Zealand's Sutherland Falls is famous for its alluring views. Nestled between the mountain range is Lake Quill which feeds into the falls. Descending 580 meters, water from the lake flows over the edge and into the basin below. Visit during the winter months for a view of the snow-capped mountains surrounding the magnificent falls.

9. Jog Falls

Jog Falls is a great addition to our waterfall bucket list with a lush green backdrop providing plenty of hiking trails and vantage points. The water does not stream down the rock wall but instead thunders over the cliff completely losing contact with the rocks. Stop by and see the tallest un-tiered waterfall in India.

10. Kaieteur Falls

This surreal waterfall can be found in the Kaieteur National Park in Guyana. It is known as one of the tallest and most powerful waterfalls in the world with a height of 226 meters. Water flows from the Potaro River and then drops off the cliff resulting in a wall of mist. Make sure you add the Kaieteur Falls to your to do list when visiting South America.
