What Are We Doing Here?

Where Do We Go From Here?

I often wonder about what my purpose is and about what society's purpose is. It seems that throughout history, we have diverged and become something mother nature may not have fully anticipated. Let me explain; around four billion years ago, life began to eat life at the bottom of the ocean; from there, animals grew expanded, new ones appeared while others disappeared.

That goes on through several ice ages, mass extinctions, and life rebounds over and over until finally, there is this tiny creature that would evolve into what we now know to be early humans. Some theorize God intervened and gave man intelligence, then suddenly there is this set of rules that humans have to live by that have never been before.

Men were creating what they thought God wanted, putting conditions and limits on an entity they cannot comprehend. Writing down words as if God was speaking in the first person. This penmanship would lay the groundwork for thousands and thousands to die later on. My most resounding question one that has brought me turmoil to what end?

Religion's purpose was to bring people together to make life easier. But unfortunately, It has defeated that purpose multiple times and created dissent and divergent populations in its masses. Bringing me back to the question, "Why are we here?" It's more than eat, drink, live, work, go home, go to bed, get up, do it all over again.

Then meet someone, follow the latest trends on social media, click like on Facebook, be seen, check if people are commenting on my posts, then grab a coffee and do my morning exercise, and rinse and repeat. Somehow there is a greater something we are all missing. We are just now discovering the edge of it.

You see people meditating, exercising, getting healthier, Dr.'s prescribing vitamins, but still, something is off with us. We as a people are Profoundly out of whack. I listen now, and there is still an undercurrent of pain flowing from the past regime. They showed us was horrifying;

We hold ourselves up as a higher people, more innovative, better beyond average, better than most of the world. Yet, something is deeply wrong. I see this same thing in other cultures as well. Some seem fractured if part of their society has to be hidden in plain sight to survive. We strive for someone to point our finger at and say, "You are to blame." But truthfully, we all allowed this to happen by either saying too much or not enough.

We lost our balance, our society, our social lives our inner lives lost their footing. But why is this a thing? Why is this a thing right now? Why in the greater scheme of things is our world out of balance today? As the great theorist, I am sure they could give you economic explanations; religious leaders could tout, "It's the end times!"

Why are we here today? Why are we standing in this spot looking around, asking, "What happened to our world?" When we look at the world around us, we only see a small portion of what is going on. So we have to willingly seek out more information because we are bombarded with so much spoon-fed useless information we lose track of what we need to know.

What is a solution to a problem of this size? Unfortunately, putting down your differences is not an option. Saying, "I will pray for you," is now an insult. Tempers flare, hearts hurt, families divided, severing ties with long-time friends because of a toxic culture.

What is the real solution? Sadly holding the criminals accountable doesn't seem to be a part of the plan. So, where do we go from here? What should our world look like after this? A topic none of us should answer quickly. Instead, we should take time and think carefully about what next and what we want in our world.

How do we put down our differences knowing how different we are now? When the divide is a chasm and no longer a crack. Some say, "We have the right to believe differently!" I would agree if we talked about the color of a truck or the size of a bus, or the best way to a new layer of plastic that will soon encompass the earth--An attempt to overthrow the Government of the United States of America because of a failed business man. I think not.

How do we stand in confidence today, knowing that our neighbors sometimes friends stood behind a man that was a proven liar? Not an ordinary liar but a liar of such power that we have never seen the like before garnering Media outlets to back his quickly denounced diatribe. How do we bounce back? How do we recover the trust that social agreement that we can peacefully agree to disagree? Was that smoke and mirrors all along a game played by the well-spoken and hidden by politicians?

Where do we stand today? Is this a point that we have to rethink everything? Echos from the woods to coastlines would suggest a lot of things that do need to change. Those that fear change then rushes in, screaming, "No! We cannot change. We are comfortable as we are in our discomfort!"

While the one percent looks down, giggling, saying, "Is that so, give us your money, we will fix this for you." Yet, we find ourselves with the same broken system we had before. Individual intelligence once was thought to be the cure for most social ills.

Now we know that is an epic misgiving. How many millions of people hold a device in their hands that could quickly resolve questionable situations in seconds, and with no attempts, "Take it on faith" the "Heat of the moment" prevails. Do we now swallow all of our lies and become painfully truthful? Brutally truthful?

Do we hold power in our hands anymore to change? Do we seek it? Does it have to seek us before we awaken on a level that steps up and says, "I am awake, I am listening now?" What further tragedy and heartbreak will seek us out before we seek a proper remedy for our problems today? Remedies that work are axioms and point the discernable path for everyone. But We have that fracture to deal with again, the deep cut.

When will willingness appear again when loneliness has emptied every box in the attic and basement? When the pictures in albums and online bring tears when seats are empty at reunions? Sadly, this is America today, the cut that exposed the divide. It was always there. We saw it, we knew it, we silently screamed about it.

Thankfully, the election stopped it before it got truly out of hand. It could have been far worse than Jan 6th, 2021. The question I ask what do we need now? Where do we go from here? As a society what do we need now? What kind of world do we want to wake up in the mornings and believe we will be happy?

What we include in that world? Would a good day look like if we were to have a coffee and say "I feel good about today?" on the flip side "What would a bad day?" We are human and we do get bored with one continuious emotion so the question is. "What now?" "What's important now?" "Where do we go from here?" "How do we move forward in a world that's full of so much resistance?"

I think we all need to sit down with ourselves and ask some powerful questions, and find our voices again. I have a feeling we will need them yet again.
