Trump Needs to Go!

Get this man out of office, ASAP

I am not one to usually speak about politics or one to even know how the whole politics thing works. I have always hated sitting through my PIG, or Participation in Government, class in high school. It was the worst! I NEVER knew what was going on or what the terms meant or who any of the famous politicians we talked about were. But hey, I passed, so I must have picked up on some things.

However, the one thing I have most certainly come to learn within the last four years, is that Donald Trump needs to go. Like far away from office or better yet, from Earth. I am not one to bash people for their political views or beliefs but, I seriously do not understand how people actually support this disgrace of a man. From degrading women to targeting the LGBTQ, this man is a joke. I mean come on people, how can you stand behind a so called President whom payed less in taxes than an average working middle class citizen? But the list can go on forever with why Trump is a buffoon.

For starters, in September of 2019 the Trump Administration planned to construct about 500 miles of a wall at the Mexico border. Stretching more than 130 miles, not only has this blocked out refugees and immigrants, separating families but, our environment has taken quite a hit, as well. It has cut off the land for most of the wildlife to roam and move. It has worsened the flooding effects, leaving animals to drown or starve when disaster strikes. Most of the wildlife species near the border have survived thus long due to the population on the United States side AND the Mexico side. Without the two populations, they would not have been as conserved. Therefore, with this wall, they are facing life threats.

Moving on, Trump has stated that there "should be some form of consequence" for a woman who goes through with an abortion. First off Mr. President...OUR BODY, OUR CHOICE! A man should have a say yes, when it comes to their partner and the pregnancy. However, if the woman is uncomfortable or doesn't believe in aborting the child, then it is her call. You cannot force a woman to terminate her pregnancy if she says no. Consent is consent. But that leads into my next thing. Back in 2015, a video was leaked where Trump talked about being a famous male and constantly being surrounded by women. He stated, "they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy!" At the time this video was taken, he was interviewing with Access Hollywood. He furthered this discussion by mentioning how he was excessively hitting on and forcing himself onto a woman who was married. He has done nothing but use his power to attain sex. Real classy, Mr. President.

One of the many speed bumps we have hit in 2020 was the Black Lives Matter rallies and protests. Instead of working to keep these protests peaceful and civil, Trump hid in the bunker below the White House in Washington D.C. He repeatedly dismissed the requests of protestors, promising to do something about defunding our police. In major cities that suffered chaotic protests, he sent in Federal Agents to arrest and take down the participants. Tump mentioned that if he would have called in the National Guard sooner, it would have all been over within minutes. These rallies occur and grow more rapidly in response to brutality and inequality incidents. As humans, we want our voices and opinions to be heard so we can make changes. If people easily dismiss our ideas and do not even hear us out, we get frustrated and work harder to reach our goals. We never give up a fight or back down until those changes come into effect.

Now if this is someone you want in office, then you are someone that I can not stand by. Opinion are opinions but, I can not support someone who does not grant equality or dismiss racism. But further more, I cannot sit back and watch as offensive slurs and language are being used towards females. As a woman, I know my worth and I know that we deserve better in office. Case concluded.

"Voting is not only our right, it is our power. When we vote, we take back our power to choose, to speak up, and too stand with those who support us and each other" - Loung Ung
