The Moon Illuminates Humanity’s Transgressions

Life is topsy-turvy these days!

The world’s trees bear witness to everything but have nothing to tell. If only they could talk, if only they could use their limbs to remind us of all the good times we once had under their leafy supervision.

Throughout the ages, how many trees have been battered, bruised, and scarred due to the ravages of war’s shells? How many trees have succumbed to large bits of flying shrapnel without a peaceful goal ever being achieved?

Similarly, the world’s sentinel, the moon, shines down on us, illuminating the atrocities of those who would use the cover of darkness to conceal their misdeeds of plunder and pillage of our worldwide citizenry.

Such is our state of affairs these days. Lies are presented as certain truth, disinformation obliterates our senses of kindness and decency, while oligarchs and despots destroy the roots of our freedom throughout the world.

An insufficient effort is being spent to ferret out the truth from those who lie. What’s more, there is a significant portion of the population who still are gullible enough to believe these lies even when the liars have been exposed and their words have been disproven.

It is an extreme smack in the face to our freedom — and yet, no one sees it this way. The powerful have ways to disguise their skullduggery by using carefully crafted words assembled by artificial intelligence algorithms designed to impugn the truth with fraud, hearsay, and conspiracy theories.

As a veteran, I am sickened by the total indifference to the factual truth that such a high percentage of our American population refutes.

Is this what America's soldiers fight so hard to protect, the right to believe lies?

It is my personal belief that we must constantly attack the lies and the liars at every juncture, every utterance of mistruth they convey. Otherwise, we become complicit partners in their efforts to deceive.

There are literally hundreds of legitimate avenues that can be explored in an honest effort to remain peaceful and bring about change. The trouble is there are ambitious despots who are power-hungry and indifferent to the plight of their people.

Over the past 70 years, there has always been a solution that highlights the right information and differentiates it from what is wrong, offering us a counterbalance to weigh, so we can make informed decisions that will guide us into the future. That counterbalance is missing right now, and our country needs to find it again — fast!

Every society has a certain fringe element that must be dealt with from time to time. When I look in America’s rearview mirror, I see multiple levels of disenfranchisement that have suddenly risen to a place of power in our political system.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), they tracked 333 general hate groups across America in 2020. That is only one of a variety of hate groups being tracked. Here are the 14 categories of hate being tracked:

• ANTI-IMMIGRANT
• ANTI-LGBTQ
• ANTI-MUSLIM
• CHRISTIAN IDENTITY
• GENERAL HATE
• HATE MUSIC
• KU KLUX KLAN
• MALE SUPREMACY
• NEO-CONFEDERATE
• NEO-NAZI
• NEO-VÖLKISCH
• RACIST SKINHEAD
• RADICAL TRADITIONAL CATHOLICISM
• WHITE NATIONALIST

The number of hate groups tracked by the SPLC totaled 838 groups in 2020, the most recent year for which they have published statistics. Think about that for a moment, if you will.

With so many sects spewing false information in a concerted effort to dissuade us from seeking out the truth, it appears their strategy is to “divide and conquer” us slowly, with virtually no resistance.

The reason for highlighting this is to urge the “silent majority” to stay woken when it comes time to vote in 2022. Using the 2020 Presidential Election as a barometer, it will take the same level of participation from legally registered voters to ensure the best people get elected to represent us in Washington, D.C.

The last person American voters need to elect is someone like Vladimir Putin!
