Supreme Court Justice Hearing

No, just no.

Once upon a time, it was my dream to become a Supreme Court Justice. I even took a few courses at Seattle University School of Law.

I decided this because I watched people and read court decisions and realized far too many cases were not judged fairly and people's faiths and religions kept getting in the way of rationality. As I watch the hearing, I see so many things wrong with this country besides the fact that this entire hearing is completely unethical.

1. It is absolutely disgusting that she is being asked about her laundry and other stereotypical house-wife tasks.

If she were truly respected, they would not DARE ask those questions.

In an interview at the very beginning of my career, my interviewer said, "we're not sure what you are going to do, we just need a pretty face at the front desk". I had my reasons for taking that position. Through the years, it became apparent, that question was a giant red flag for how I would be treated.

As a businesswoman with a solid career, if I were asked about mundane tasks done in my free time during the most important and televised interview of my life, I would get up and walk out. This is not an interview for housewife.

More importantly, if this is the way those who support her are questioning her, what do they expect of her? This is a big indication that they do not really want the American people to know what she thinks; it shows the republicans want their base to just identify with her and not know her ideology. From experience, when you are not asked about your expertise for a job that requires your expertise, it is not you they want. It is an idea they have in their head and your work means nothing to them.

2. Religion

In a country so focused on religion, this doesn't come as a big surprise, but to comment on one's religion so many times isn't discussing their morals, which is what they would have you believe it is about. If the concern is on morals, ask specifically about the morals and how those beliefs coincide with our government.

Religion has no place in the courts. This is not about religion. Honestly, the task of a Catholic holding the position of Supreme Court Justice is to behave as Pope. The Pope's task is to observe the laws of the faith and interpret for all Catholics just as a justice's task is to observe the laws of our country and interpret. A key difference is that the Justice's of our country are also tasked with being unbiased. Making faith a key talking point for one who is supposed to be morally unbiased is well… amoral.

3. "Us vs. Them"

The entire point of the Supreme Court is non-partisan judiciary interpretation; they must represent all peoples of the United States. In an interview regarding the highest held non-partisan office and forcing partisan talking points on the nominee to which they did not respond, is also amoral.

Overall, any questions regarding policy, may be partisan influenced, but the questions are valid. Making a point to talk disparity takes the focus off the nominee altogether and that should not be tolerated.

4. Timing

People have cast their votes. The time for decision making needs to wait until all votes are counted.

I understand why it's appealing to want to force through a Supreme Court Justice since technically it is still term, but I would argue that certain tasks need to be paused while votes are being cast and counted.

ONE THING AT A TIME!

The people have not had a chance to fully say who they want to make decisions. Presidential and Legislative choices are in progress.

To allow judiciary choices during this time is completely immoral and frankly, everyone should be offended by how the republican party, at large, is forcing a decision without enough answers. It is like a math equation. A+B=C. Except we still do not know the mathematical functions of A or B, therefore, we cannot solve for C.

Overall, I completely disagree with how this was handled and feel it is completely disrespectful to the people of the United States.
