The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled on matters involving the release of Donald Trump’s Taxes and financial records. In a 7-2 ruling, the court struck down Trump’s arguments and efforts to stop investigators from New York State from obtaining his Tax Records as well as his companies’ financial records.

The New York Court is investigating whether Trump or any of his businesses violated New York State Tax laws, and the court sought a subpoena to obtain those documents. In a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court also ruled that the U.S. Congress has the power to subpoena Trump’s financial records. The court returned the case to the lower court of New York State to determine what the court referred to as concerns over separation of powers.

The Chief Justice of the court John Roberts delivered the majority opinion. Other Justices in support of this decision includes Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagain, Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch. Two other Justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito filed dissenting opinions regarding the two cases.

Chief Justice Roberts writing about this ruling said, "In our judicial system, 'the public has a right to every man's evidence.' Since the earliest days of the Republic, 'everyman' has included the President of the United States," said Chief Justice Roberts.

Two Supreme court Justices nominated by Trump, Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, also voted in support of this ruling. While the decision was against the President, nevertheless the court gave time to Trump with regard to anyone having access to these documents. The court reasoned that the timing was not right now considering the political climate in light of the upcoming elections. This means that in the near-term Trump’s financial records and Tax transcripts will remain shielded until after the November 3 Presidential elections.

The President was obviously unhappy with the Supreme Court’s 7-2 split decision. He complained that he was a victim of what he called “political prosecution” On his tweeter page the president posted the following message:

"The Supreme Court sends case back to Lower Court, arguments to continue. This is all a political prosecution. I won the Mueller Witch hunt, and others, and now I have to keep fighting in a politically corrupt New York. Not fair to this Presidency or Administration"!

President Donald Trump

This is the first opportunity for the Supreme Court to render a decision in a case involving Trump and his business and financial dealings. The President wants none of his financial records or taxes to be made public and has vehemently refused to release any of his tax records. All the past presidents have released their taxes prior to winning the Presidency.

The president angrily tweeted "We have a totally corrupt previous Administration, including a President and Vice President who spied on my campaign, AND GOT CAUGHT [sic] and nothing happens to them,"

"This crime was taking place even before my election, everyone knows it, and yet all are frozen stiff with fear. No Republican Senate Judiciary response, NO 'JUSTICE', NO FBI, NO NOTHING. Major horror show REPORTS on Comey & McCabe, guilty as hell, nothing happens. Catch Obama & Biden cold, nothing. A 3 year, $45,000,000 Mueller HOAX, failed - investigated everything. Won all against the Federal Government and the Democrats send everything to politically corrupt New York, which is falling apart with everyone leaving, to give it a second, third and fourth try."

Trump continued in series of more tweets when he said, "Now the Supreme Court gives a delay ruling that they would never have given for another President. This is about PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT. We catch the other side SPYING on my campaign, the biggest political crime and scandal in U.S. history, and NOTHING HAPPENS. But despite this, I have done more than any President in history in first 3 1/2 years!" Trump tweeted.
