Strive for Perfection

Now that Donald Trump is president, what should Americans do?

After a historically crazy election, Donald Trump has been sworn in as President of the United States. Now, the public must hold him accountable to be the best president possible for all Americans.

Republicans should stay away from boasting of how they won and how the Democrats lost. This is only creating more divide that is hurting the country. Rather, they must focus on the future of this great country under President Trump by encouraging him to push a truly conservative agenda.

Democrats need to stop crying about their loss in November. It happened...now move on. Did Russia interfere in our election? It is likely so, but there is no proof of it right now and we do know one thing for sure: it did not affect the outcome of the election. Although, both sides should agree that Russia must face the consequences for whatever they did. Back to the Democrats; the DNC and Hillary Clinton did their jobs very poorly, resulting in a shocking loss. The Electoral College was instituted into the Constitution to balance the power of all of the states. Stating that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote is doing nobody any good. The only thing complaining is doing is making the Democratic Party look pathetic. Every crying Democrat is practically helping Trump campaign for a second term.

The Democratic Party has been the party of corruption all throughout its history so therefore, the goal of all conservatives should be to weaken their influence and power as much as possible. From slavery to abortion, they have continuously taken advantage of innocent human life. Their inner cities have failed and are crime infested. The constant let downs in their economic and foreign policies have brought a lot of pain to this country. But, by no means does this mean the Republican Party is perfect. After all, the GOP elected Donald Trump in the primaries.

Do not get me wrong, Donald Trump does share many important values with the Republican Party and the Constitution, but nobody can forget the many issues he has. His at times rude rhetoric needs to stop. He now represents our country and must begin to lead with an example of selflessness; something he seems to lack at times. The childish tweets must come to an end. The amount of power he has with his Twitter is remarkable and scary at the same time. Now that he is president, he must not use this power for childish games, but for the betterment of the USA. We have begun to see him use his Twitter for good, but the childish tweets still continue.

The most encouraging sign for Americans is that Trump is surrounding himself with some great conservatives like Pence and Carson. Something else he is doing is listening to others. He has talked to Ray Lewis, Jim Brown, Kanye West, and Steve Harvey about fixing the inner cities. Reagan was able to be such a great president because of his ability to listen to others. If Donald Trump can be a Reagan-like listener, then our country will be in great shape. Government in the USA is not a one man job and hopefully Trump continues to work with others.

The USA has a new president who is going to bring major change to his country. It is time for American citizens to change too. Republicans...stop bragging, Democrats...stop whining. Rather, come together to rally around the new leader of the free world. It is very possible to support someone while holding them accountable to do their job in the best way possible. Some people see support as an ultimate commitment that few are worthy of. This is wrong because support from both sides helps people come together. Wish the new president good luck, but never settle for anything short of perfection.
