Step 2: Get your friends to submit a statement of support form to the state party before May 7, 2020.

Step 3: Submit a statement of candidacy to the state party at P.O. Box 2041, Honolulu HI 96805, or electronically at [email protected] by the deadline of May 7, 2020. Your statement of candidacy form must be signed by at least 10 certified members of the Democratic Party of Hawaii.

Step 4: Attend the State Convention on May 23, 2020.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: Will be selected on May 24, 2020 by members of the Hawaii State Central Committee. Filing deadline is May 24, 2020.

Idaho

Primary: March 10

Step 3: Attend the delegate selection meeting at the State Convention (Boise Center in Boise), on June 6.

Illinois

Primary: March 17

Illinois selects delegates by ballot during the March 17 election. Your name will on the ballot, underneath the candidate you are supporting.

There are hoops you have to jump through to get on the ballot.

Step 1: Get the forms. Candidate forms are available at the State Party office at 1201 South Veterans Parkway, Suite C, Sprinfield IL or 111 West Washington, Suite 902, Chicago IL. The first day you can circulate nominating petitions is October 5, 2019.

Step 2: Submit a declaration of candidacy with the State Party at their office in Springfield.

Step 3: File a Statement of Candidacy with the Illinois State Board of Elections by January 3, 2020.

Step 4: File a nominating petition with signatures of Qualified Primary Electors from their congressional district. Either 0.5 percent or 500 signatures. Petitions must be filed on January 2 and January 3, 2020, with the Illinois State Board of Elections at 2329 South MacArthur Boulevard, Springfield, Illinois.

Step 5: Presidential campaigns have the right to strike names of potential delegates. The deadline for removing names is January 8, 2020.

Step 6: Got your signatures? On the ballot! Good! Now go out and get everybody to vote for your candidate and for YOU.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: Will be selected by a quorum of the District Level delegates at a meeting at the State Party offices on April 27.

Indiana

Primary: May 5, 2020

Elected Delegates: 70

Indiana selects delegates by ballot during the May 5 election. Your name will on the ballot, underneath the candidate you are supporting.

Step 1: File to be a delegate to the state convention by competing a form with the Clerk of Circuit Courts in the county where you wish to be a delegate. The window is between January 8 and February 7, 2020. You must be a registered Democrat to file. If you have not voted before, you need authorization from the Democratic Party County Chair.

Step 2: File a state of candidacy with the Indiana State Party at 115 W Washington St., Suite 1165 South, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46204. The window for filing Is May 1 to June 1, 2020. You can get forms from County Chairs, District Chairs or the Indiana Democratic Party Headquarters. Or, visit the website, INDems.org.

Step 3: Be elected as a state convention delegate during the May 5, 2020 primary. County chairs have the power to fill vacancies if necessary.

Step 4: Attend the District Level caucuses held at the Indiana State Democratic Convention, which will be in at the Indiana Convention Center Indianapolis on June 13, 2020.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: Will be selected by a quorum of the District Level delegates at the State Party Convention on June 13, 2020. The filing deadlines for PLEO and At Large are between May 1 and June 1, 2020.

Iowa

Caucus: February 3 (First in the Nation!)

Elected Delegates: 41

Step 1: Attend either the virtual caucus (January 29-February 3), or your local precinct caucus on February 3, 2020.

Step 2: Attend your County Convention on March 21, and get elected to the District Convention

Step 3: File a petition for candidacy with the State Chair of the Democratic Party, Iowa Democratic Party, 5661 Fleur Dr, Des Moines IA 50321, or by sending a legible electronic scan to [email protected]. The petition must be filed by April 13 and must contain the signatures of at least one percent of the delegates to the convention.

Step 4: Attend the District Level convention on April 25, where national delegates are selected.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: Will be selected by State Convention on June 13. Petitions must be filed by June 1.

Kansas

Primary: May 2, 2020

Kansas has one of the most interesting primaries in the country, with ranked choice voting. Kansas will be able to vote by mail, or in person on May 2.

Step 1: File a statement of candidacy with the Kansas Democratic Party, 501 SE Jefferson Street, Suite 30, Topeka KS by May 16, 2020.

Step 2: Attend your Senate District level convention on May 9 and get elected delegate to the District Level Convention.

Step 3: Attend the District Level convention on May 16, where national delegates will be selected.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: Selected at the State Convention on June 6, 2020. Filing deadline for PLEO candidates is May 15, and for At-Large candidates is May 22.

Kentucky

Primary: May 19, 2020

Step 1: File a statement of candidacy with the Kentucky State Democratic Party. The filing window is between February 2 and May 8, 2020.

Step 2: Forms will be available on February 2, and can be mailed to Kentucky Democratic Party, PO Box 694, Frankfort, KY 40602, faxed to (502) 470-7353, emailed to [email protected], or delivered in person to 190 Democrat Drive in Frankfort.

Step 3: Attend your county or legislative district caucus on May 23, 2020 and be elected a delegate to the state convention.

Step 4: Attend the Congressional District Level convention on June 6, 2020.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: Selected by an Executive Committee on June 6, 2020. The filing deadlines for PLEO and At Large delegates are the same as for District delegates.

Louisiana

Primary: April 4, 2020

Elected Delegates: 50

Step 1: File a declaration of candidacy with the Louisiana State Party, 701 Government Street, Baton Rouge LA 70802 between March 13 and April 8, 2020. Petitions will available at the State Office and OnlIne March 13.

Step 2: Contact as many registered Democrats as you can within your district, because they will be the ones voting for delegates.

Step 3: Louisiana Democrats will be electing delegates in a vote by mail program running from April 15 to April 29. Ballots must be returned by the 29 and will be tabulated April 30.

Selection of PLEO and At Large Delegates: The meeting will take place on May 9, 2020 in Baton Rouge, location TBD. The deadline for filing as a PLEO or At Large candidate is May 1, 2020.

Step 1: File a petition for candidacy with the Maine State Party, between February 7 and May 15, 2020. Nomination petitions must be signed by at 35 state convention delegates or alternates (they must be registered to vote).

Step 2: Attend your municipal caucus on March 8 and get elected to the State Convention.

Step 3: Attend the state convention on May 30, 2020, where national delegates are selected. If you ask, the State Party will provide you with the names of all state convention delegates and alternates, so you can campaign for delegate.

Maryland

Maryland direct delegates by placing them on the ballot. Your name will be on the ballot beneath the Presidential Candidate you are supporting.

Step 1: File a statement of candidacy with the Maryland State Board of Elections, 151 West Street, Annapolis MD 21401. The Window begins in a date in January TBD and a date in February TBD.

Step 2: Urge everyone to vote for the candidate of your choice in the April 28 primary, and to vote for YOU.
