Silent Cries of Anguish - Why Anti-Chinese Sentiment Won't Help Defeat the CCP

Do innocent civilians deserve to suffer and perish for their tyrannical government’s crimes? Can the use of racism and stereotypes ever be justified?

Warning: Long post ahead. May contain potentially sensitive/controversial opinions. This is a rant and not an informative piece of writing.

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and people asking something along the lines of “why don’t Chinese people rebel?” or “How can they still stay silent?”

That brings up a really good question, “which side are the Chinese people on? Are they sided with the CCP or with the democratic nations of the west?” The answer is complicated, but I would like to have a few minutes of your time and attention. I’ll clear up some misconceptions, and discuss why the chinese people aren’t able to rebel, all while ranting incoherently. I am someone of high moral standards, so please forgive me if I’m too emotional or if I say anything sensitive.

This is an informal piece of writing and is by no means an informative piece of writing. Rather, it is more of a rant in which I express my views and opinions. Therefore, please excuse my informal speech and potential grammatical errors. You may not agree with me, but please refrain from hurling insults or racial slurs. Remember we are civilized human beings and we communicate through logic and reasoning and not by banging our heads on keyboards. Thank you.

As we all know, tension is rising and WWIII seems to draw near. With all the increasing political tension between the US and China, hatred for China is spreading throughout the world as people are scrambling to pick sides between the world’s two largest superpowers.

The CCP has terrorized the world for nearly a century, oppressing and persecuting its own citizens to maintain their tyrannical grasp over the country. They’ve lied and deceived the world over and over again. They have no regard for human rights. They brutally tortured and slaughter whoever they deem as a threat, whether it be minorities like the Uyghurs or human rights activists and whistleblowers. Whoever speaks out against them is silenced and swiftly eliminated. They treat their own citizens like livestock, enslaving, and robbing them for generations upon generations. Their evilness and hypocrisy knows no limits and exceeds even human imagination.

Yet we have remained idle for so long, turning a blind eye to all suffering and atrocities created by the CCP’s regime. But now is the time to take action! Now’s the chance to eliminate the CCP and restore what’s left of our humanity! (*overly dramatic music playing in the background*)!

But before you start screaming, “let’s nuke China!” or “let WWIII begin!”. Let us stop for a moment and think. There is still one problem, one major issue that we haven’t addressed yet. The Chinese people. Where do they stand? Are they sided with the CCP or with the democratic nations? The answer is… complicated. But first, there’s some misconception I have to clear up.

While I’m glad we are finally taking action against the CCP, I find it infuriating that Chinese people are still being associated with the CCP. As hatred for the CCP and anti-China sentiments continues to rise, hatred and racism towards Chinese people is increasing rapidly as well. Certain people have decided to unleash their anger for the CCP on the Chinese people. Racism and hatred for Chinese people, regardless of their political position or nationality, run rampant on the streets and on the internet.

On the streets, random Chinese people are assaulted, beaten, and shamed for their identity, for being Chinese. On the internet, it’s much more prevalent and extreme, since offenders can hide behind an anonymous identity. It’s very common nowadays to come across some Facebook or Twitter post ranting about how filthy and disgusting the Chinese people are and how we should just nuke them all. Now let me tell you something. You can’t just solve every problem by “nuking it”. Neither is it morally right to nuke an entire population with innocent civilians.

Of course, this may not be the opinion of the general population, but I wish to clear up the misconception of the association between the CCP and the Chinese people. It is very straightforward in terms of logic. But since some people are incapable of thinking logically, I’ll try to put things in very simple terms.

The Chinese people do not equal the CCP. It’s just that simple. I don’t get why some people associate all 1.4 billion Chinese people with their tyrannical government. It should be obvious that a government does not necessarily represent its people or their values and morals. Not every Chinese person shares the same twisted morals and values as the CCP. So why must innocent civilians pay the price of their authoritarian government’s action? Why should they be blamed for the atrocious crimes their government has committed?

Even if there’s a small group of brainwashed individuals that support the CCP, would it be fair to ruthlessly punish the entire population for it? So how can some people say that all Chinese people deserve to die? Are they saying that innocent civilians deserve to suffer and perish because of their tyrannical government’s crimes?

Moreover, not all Chinese people support the CCP! In fact, a large portion of the population secretly loathe the CCP and would rebel if their families weren’t held at gunpoint! After all, who would enjoy being abused and oppressed? Citizens who’ve first handedly experienced the government’s evilness and hypocrisy knows how little the CCP cares for its citizens!

Now you might ask, “if they hate the CCP so much, why don’t they just rebel?” Well, it’s not just that simple. You have to understand it’s not that the Chinese people don’t want to rebel, it’s because they can’t. It may seem illogical to you westerners (I know not everyone is from the west, but you get the idea), who’ve lived your entire lives in a free democratic nation where you can express your views and opinions freely without worrying about your own existence, but that isn’t the case in China! The Chinese people don’t dare to rebel or speak out for the sake of their families’ and their own safety, and neither do they have the power or unity as a population to rebel.

It’s important to point out that the CCP’s brainwashing and propaganda has created a split in the population. Long term brainwashing and exposure to propaganda have rendered some people incapable of critical thinking or questioning authorities. Many Chinese citizens were fed false information, often since birth, for so long that it’s now deeply rooted into their minds.

On top of that, the CCP uses a combination of censorship, spies, and extreme surveillance to control the population. As terrible as it is, it is very effective. The Chinese live in a society where any acts of rebellion or dissent can put you and your family’s lives in jeopardy. So naturally, everyone is distrustful of each other, fearing that the other might be a spy for the government and will report them if they bring up any sensitive topics.

This, combined with mass censorship and strict monitoring of all forms of communication (including talking, phone calls, social media) makes it nearly impossible to organize a large scale rebellion without it collapsing from the inside out.

And even if a rebellion of such size was organized, it would fall apart very quickly since the Chinese people, armed with pitchforks and kitchen knives, would be facing off against an army of tanks. Even if the tank’s quality is comparable to something from the dollar store, it’s still a tank, and pitchforks aren’t gonna do anything to an armored tank.

The Chinese have no weapons, no power/influence, and on top of that, they’re unified as a result of the government’s propaganda, brainwashing, and censorship. In short, the government controls the population in a way that renders any collaborative actions improbable (not impossible, just improbable).

So understand it’s not like all Chinese people support the CCP. It’s not like they don’t want democracy and freedom! It’s not like they enjoy seeing the blood of their family members spill on the floor! Just ask some poor, starving villagers if they want the corrupted officials to rob them of their wealth! Ask the Falun gong practitioners if they enjoy having their organs ripped out of their bodies! Just ask the people who’ve lost their homes, friends, and family members to the floods if they’re satisfied with the CCP’s actions! So it’s not that they support the CCP. They desperately wish to live comfortable and peaceful lives, yet they don’t have the power or the unity to overthrow their oppressive government.

There are also a lot of stigmas and negative stereotypes on Chinese people. This has been the case for centuries, but with the coronavirus and the surge in anti-china sentiment, it has become stronger and more prevalent than ever. There’s always the misconception that Chinese people are greedy, selfish, and arrogant barbarians (or just all-around human scum). Often they’re dehumanized into uncivilized, filthy dog-eating beasts. Other stereotypes include the belief that all Chinese people are racist or that they are all brainwashed.

Now let me ask a question, “are all Chinese people like that?” I mean, sure, there are some Chinese that have committed heinous crimes and have twisted morals. And some that are brainwashed slaves of the CCP. But does that mean all of them are? Can you even generalize an entire ethnic/racial group of people, especially with a population as large as China’s?

How can some people say all 1.4 billion Chinese people are dog-eating psychopaths and deserve to be nuked? I’m surprised people even believe that all Chinese people eat dogs, bats, and other disgusting things. For those of you who actually believe that, please go do some research before you open your mouth. I’m embarrassed for you!

Now, are all Chinese racist? Do they all hate and discriminate against minorities and other races/ethnicities? Not necessarily. That is just a common misconception that people have developed from a few (selected) examples! Just because you saw a few videos of Chinese people beating up people of other races doesn’t mean you should jump to conclusions and say, “Oh, those racist Ching Chong! They should all be nuked!” Every country has its share of “bad” people. But that doesn’t mean an entire population is rotten to the core.

Even if there is some racism, much of it is the result of CCP propaganda. The citizens don’t have any control over what the government does or says. In fact, most citizens aren’t even aware of their government’s actions or what is really happening in the outside world since the government can twist any information in a way that glorifies them and demonizes the US (or anyone who they don’t like). In doing so, they can twist or fabric information into what they want the citizens to believe!

Additionally, the CCP hires citizens (“agents”) to speak against any ethnic group, country, or individuals as an attempt to sway the public view (you may know them as Wu Mao)! Using such tactics combined with censorship of any “controversial” opinions, the government is able to brainwash a gullible portion of the population into believing Americans are the spawn of Satan. However, it doesn’t mean that the entire population is as gullible! There are many well-educated individuals who are capable of critical thinking, who don’t believe the CCP’s propaganda, and are very much anti-CCP. Unfortunately, the voices of these individuals are often silenced by the CCP or drowned out by the CCP’s propaganda.

Now from a moral point of view, it’s just morally wrong to apply stereotypes on each individual and judge them based upon these false conceptions. It is important to recognize that Chinese people are human as well. Their lives matter just as much as yours (unless you’re one of those “supremacists” who believe that they’re superior). No one “deserves to die” for the crimes committed by an authoritarian government which they have no control over. You can’t declare an entire race/ethnicity as “evil” or “barbaric” simply because of their government and a small group of people.

The Chinese people (referring to innocent Chinese) have been deceived, brainwashed, and brutally oppressed for nearly a hundred years. It is simply immoral to ruthlessly persecute them further for crimes they didn’t partake in. Many innocent civilians have already suffered so much already, having lost their homes, their wealth, and what’s left of their families to the floods, famine, and the virus. How can you still laugh at their suffering, mocking and jeering at them, saying heartless things like, “wipe them off the map!” or “I hope the dam collapses and drown these motherfuckers!”? Where is your goddamn humanity? I am absolutely horrified and sickened to witness such behaviors from my fellow human beings. I am disappointed by the fact that such people are even the same species as me!

Call me overly sympathetic, but the Chinese people (again, referring to innocent chinese civilians) don’t deserve such treatment. They’ve been brutally oppressed and enslaved by their government for nearly a hundred years. They’ve been persecuted by the corrupt officials, who robbed them of all their wealth. Their house, property, and families have all been swept away in the waves. They have lost everything. Mothers have lost their own son/daughter to organ trafficking. People have helplessly watched as their friends and relatives are swallowed up by the waves, unable to do anything but listen to their screams of anguish. The lives of entire families were extinguished by the virus and by the government’s stupidity. The Chinese people have suffered endlessly in silence, and in agony. And yet the government still wants to take what’s left from them.

Can you imagine their suffering? To have lost everything to the virus that killed their friends and family members, to the floods which left them homeless, to the pests which left them starving, and to the government who remained silent and idle through all the suffering, only to return to take what’s left of the citizen’s wealth and livelihood?

It’s important to recognize that the Chinese people are separate from the CCP! Many Chinese people hate the CCP with every fiber of their being and would rebel if given a chance. We must recognize that stereotypes simply cannot be applied to a group of people, much less an entire population. There’s always a couple rotten apples within a group, but just because one apple is rotten doesn’t mean you should throw out the entire basket (or in this case, nuke the entire basket). It’s also important to recognize that the Chinese people have suffered more than enough already and it would be immoral to persecute and punish them further, especially if most of them are innocent.

How can we call ourselves humans if we persecute them as well? That would make us no better than the CCP. Retribution is not what we seek. After all, hatred only fuels more hatred, creating an endless cycle of pain and suffering. As human beings, we should feel outraged to witness such atrocities, but that doesn’t mean we should also commit atrocities in vengeance. So please, recognize that we have a common enemy. It’s not the Chinese people, but the CCP. So please don’t go around spreading more hatred and suffering to innocent people. It’s our duty, as human beings, to uphold our moral code and maintain what’s left of our humanity.
