Two Russian missiles, according to Ukrainian officials, hit a railway station in Kramatorsk. The missile strike resulted in 39 people dead and a further 87 persons severely injured.

Alec Luhn, a former Russia correspondent for The Guardian and The Telegraph, reported via his Twitter account that "10 children were killed at Kramatorsk station when a missile hit a crowd fleeing the Russian advance."

The railway station strike, packaged at the time, was part of a major Russian offensive. Civilians, noting increasingly bloody fighting, were attempting to flee the region.

"They wanted to sow panic and fear," Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said, "they wanted to take as many civilians as possible."

Kyrylenko, governor of the Donetsk region, revealed in a press briefing at least 39 people were killed and a further 87 persons were wounded. Many of the wondered, when emergency personnel arrived on the scene, were in a serious condition. Lesia Vasylenko , a Ukrainian MP and mother of three children, references the attack on her Twitter account.

The attack, regardless of your perspective, can only be described as deliberate. Russian forces, ever since the invasion began, have been targeting civilians. Thousands of civilians, when the missiles struck, had been at the railway station.

"The railway station in Kramatorsk was hit by 2 Russian rockets. People were injured," Oleksandra Matviichuk tweeted. "There were evacuation trains, many women and children."

Matviichuk, the head of the Center for Civil Liberties, recognises more must be done. Russian officials need to understand they are on the wrong side of history.

European Union leaders, as local authorities rush civilians out of the danger zone, arrived in the Ukrainian capital. It was their intent to offer Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy much needed support. More than reassurance is required.

EU membership, noting there are currently 27 member countries, would benefit Ukraine. The path to membership, never an easy one, doesn't typically come with a tangible roadmap.

"Russian forces fired on an ordinary train station, on ordinary people, there were no soldiers there," Zelenskiy said.

Russian forces have been deliberately targeting Ukrainian civilians. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence, noting news coming out of Ukraine, would recognise the truth when they hear it. Ukrainian officials, in the wake of Russian troop movements, have made significantly horrifying discoveries which would make sane people shiver.

Zelenskiy, disappointed with the international response, has urged Brussels to do more to punish Russia. A ban on Russian supplied oil would go a long way to making the Russian president rethink his strategy.

Western countries, inclusive of the United States, the United Kingdom, and several E.U. nations, have imposed on Russia significant sanctions. Many of the sanctions directly target top Russian leaders and Putin's daughters.

The E.U., in addition to Russian coal imports, has banned an estimated 20 billion euros worth of trade. Obviously, when it comes to a country's imports and exports, 20 billion euros is a fairly significant amount.

Iryna Venediktova, Ukraine's prosecutor general, revealed authorities in the Kyiv region had discovered at least 650 bodies. Forty of the bodies found, many of which were in a horrifyingly unspeakable condition, were children. Today, referencing the railway station missile strike, the Prosecutor General tweeted about a pre-trial investigation having been launched.

Venediktova, on Friday, 25 March 2022, noted "10 countries have opened criminal cases in relation to Russian war crimes in Ukraine!"

The Kremlin, still referencing the invasion as a "special operation," revealed on Friday it could end in the "foreseeable future." Russian objectives, something that hasn't been fully addressed, have not yet been realised. Russian peace negotiators, hopefully recognising Putin has failed, need to end the invasion with practical means.
