I want to make a change

I don’t want to make a statement. I want to make a change, a contribution however small, towards change. This is a long post but you should expect nothing less from me than a novel when it concerns the well being of others...

I’ve remained silent during the high state of emotional turmoil when it seems we are expected to stand up for the rights of either a man of color who was unnecessarily slain or the police force that is divided amongst itself.

My silence is external because inside my soul is screaming with disbelief of the inability to understand how creation was made to be driven by one unified human race and there is seemingly nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said, fallen on deaf ears. The human race continues to set up barriers within itself in the ultimate search for fairness, and political correctness.

My silence is based on the simple yet profound soul wrenching premise that I can’t fathom why we still can’t grasp the fact that any human life is the only right we should be fighting for.

It is what we all have in common and the sole reason we exist, to contribute to the human experience, existence, and evolution of the world we inhabit.

My heart aches when I witness horrific loss of life in any situation it presents. The pure, raw nature of a man was revealed in an utterly vulnerable moment of despair. Our most basic primal instinct to search for the protection and salvation of our mother in our fear and desperation. He utilized the remaining breath, energy, and soul to call to his deceased mother.

If that doesn’t absolutely shred your heart into a million pieces it’s time to step away from the conscious necessity to “choose” sides which appears to be an autopilot function for the human race at the moment and see with new vision.

This is not a matter of choice. We don’t have to pick a race or entire police force. Clearly there is a flaw in the system that has continued throughout many years. I have met some amazing police officers and they usually garb a smile to start rather than an appearance of 2 seconds away from excessive force, a warning to stay in line.

If you want respect from a community you have to carry some sense of dignity and respect also. Young men and women are beginning their adult lives with a mistrust towards their community leaders.

There is a racial divide still but there is also an issue with an inability to manage emotion, a separation of body and spirit, resulting in rage. It seems to me like an abuse of power above all else and an underlying racist conditioning that convinced this man he found a worthy outlet for his rage.

Can we do something within the system to correct a flaw so large?

I understand I am a white woman, with white privilege that was a development of what I was born into. I’ve spent more time than I can convey attempting to understand why this continues and how I could possibly express this clear and fundamentally true value of life. All life. This statement sounds so cliche now but God it is so simple and clear.

If someone has mistreated you it likely will result in rage or fear. It takes real power, real strength to move beyond those emotions and begin new. Forgiveness results in a new perspective, one that has a little more clarity and peace. You feel a little lighter and the result is much more lucrative than the circumstances attached to negativity unnecessarily clenched and waiting for the opportunity to unleash.

Release is the only way to change an entire corrupted system that goes way beyond Mr. Floyd.

This isn’t to disrespect or forget anyone who has been corrupted, broken or a victim of brutality. To dwell in anything prevents forward movement. Utilize that pain to pull together resources or ideas and connect. Two apparent sides need to communicate because there IS love that crosses that divide. Visibility is not what it should be but if enough individuals truly attempt with a positive and optimistic lens to see the other side without looking in the rear view mirror, justice will be served in the finality of one human race.

Words, thoughts and intentions are incredibly powerful. I say this with so much of my heart and soul. I see you, I hear you, I feel you, I love you.

Instead of chanting, “I can’t breathe” consider the alternative. “I can breathe”. Breathe for Mr. Floyd, for brothers, sisters, community. Breathe new breath for change of an entire human race and the generations to come. Be that breath that carries all lost life on. Be the strength that he was crying out for but without dwelling in the same negative energy of rage that took his life.

Start a conversation about what we can do to change. Obviously we never want to see unnecessary loss of human life but there has to be steps that lead to this juncture. As awful as it feels to say that, it’s the unfortunate truth.

Every human being of every race, country, religion needs to develop the understanding that the jump off to being offended over smaller circumstances is holding everyone back. Respect and equality will have to reach across the divide from two sides or it will never close it. This is not to say everyone deserves it but somehow we have to meet in the middle.

I am not certain of any substantial steps I can take to truly make a change but I want to know the desires of every person that feels the negligence of the world. We each hold so much potential in energy, ideas, compassion and the world awaits the communication to begin building again. Anger, rage, resentment are often emotional baggage carried over from our ancestors or experiences of our upbringing and conditioning. Healers and compassionate lovers of all are waiting to work through the negative garbage because sometimes we need fixed before we can unconditionally accept others.

We aren’t broken beyond repair, just misguided. Everyone is a subject to the conditioning of others and it’s the individual that has to recognize this, accept ourselves and others “as is” and change the system from the inside out.

If this sounds like nonsense to you, carry on. If anyone else has positive recommendations to move forward or needs an ear, shoulder, non biased heart... I’m here.
