The year 2021 has really been a year every Nigerian won't forget for good. The year was quite an experience for the people living in Nigeria. The year birthed numerous events, happenings, adjusted laws, and regulations. It is also important to know that the majority of the situations going on in the country are caused by both the government and the aggrieved citizens.
It all started from the discovery of hoarded Covid-19 palliatives, It went on to the increase in killings and attacks by the Islamic group (Boko Haram), the devaluation of the Naira in the foreign exchange market, the increase in the prices, and decrease in the quantity/quality of goods and services, the banning of Twitter, the increase in crime rates (Kidnapping, abduction, and killings) by some people known as the (Unknown gunmen), the agitation for a division in the country with the countries different fractions clamoring for their personal controlled economy. (The Yoruba nation, The Biafra states).
The citizens of the country now live in total fear of the unknown as they can't guarantee themselves the privilege to see the end of the next day.
Daylight robberies are now the order of the day in the countries giant commercial state (Lagos).
The rule of law has since been overlooked and law enforcement officials now take laws into their hands. Bribery and corruption have raised its head and has become a norm.
Nigeria the giant of Africa now experiences internal bleeding. Citizens turnout at churches and different prayer grounds to pray for the restoration of the country's glory. The recent arrest of Biafra, and Yoruba nation leaders, Nnamdi Kanu, and Sunday Igboho respectively has raised an uproar in different states of the country. All followers and members now embark on lockdowns and business closures. The economy of the country needs a reawakening.
The poverty rate has now become higher than it was before, citizens now live below the $1 per day daily survival rate. The need for a change is of top priority. The birth of a new Nigeria is a general prayer for every citizen of the country. A country that has once been called the giant of Africa, A country whose Currency in time past was higher than the US dollar, A country that ranks in the world as the number one provider and exporter of crude oil, Nigeria has once been a home for every investor, everyone had always looked forward to investing in the country.
We all pray for a better Nigeria. A country where University and polytechnic students will take pride in their schools and the governing bodies. No one is happy experiencing delays in the number of years and sessions spent in schools. A school system without strikes and delay has been the prayer of every student attending the country’s Federal and States Universities and Polytechnics.
A new Nigeria needs to emerge. The country must return to its glory. The prayer continues tirelessly, and the hope for change burns intensely in the hearts and minds of her citizens. The health sector of the country must return back to its glory as the rate at which doctors go on strike is becoming alarming and dilapidated structures and facilities increase.
Wake up Nigeria! Arise from your slumber! Climb up the ranks in the most wealthy countries in the world.
Amongst all odds, the country is experiencing at the moment the citizens are its pride. They wake up every day like nothing ever happened praying and to hope for a brighter tomorrow. The faith for change is up. At the end of every tunnel is an awaiting lightning. Nigeria is blessed beyond measure. A new Nigeria is all we pray for.
