Meet the possible 2024 Democratic candidates

2020 is just behind us but were already thinking about 2024 which could be a new year as there might not be an incumbent democrat running for president. As a democrat here is my guide to who could run for the nomination in 2024.

Vice President Kamala Harris (2nd in command and waiter in chief)

So everyone knows Harris is a heartbeat away from the presidency as being vice president and is the next in line for president if something was to happen to President Biden. Harris ran in 2019 against then Vice President Biden for the Democrat nominee but quit before the primaries. But then in July 2020 she was choosing by Joe Biden to join him on the ticket to broaden his pitch to voters. They won receiving 306 electors and became Vice president in 2021 and has only served only just under a month in office but has already shown she will be crucial for democrats in the senate for the next 2 years. She will be crucial also for the democrats in the next few years if they have any chance of winning the south in the next few years. She will be the Front runner if she runs and has the greatest chance of winning due to she can campaign on what could be a successful four years and could become the first female president.

Secretary Pete Buttigieg (Secretary of transport and the youngest cabinet member)

So Pete buttigieg is well known as being the first openly gay confirmed cabinet member serving as Biden Transport Secretary in a department which be crucial. He in charge of a department which is task of fixing America’s roads and falling infrastructure. This could really help him in the primaries in 2024 as he can talk to the American people about problems that they care that he help fixed and can use this to his advantage. Buttigieg is really popular with Americas youth but he is a moderate that can talk about liberal policy’s he been called a modern Bill Clinton on multiple occasions. He has never worked in congress which could work to his advantage as he only served as mayor of south bend Indiana. He served in the navy serving in Afghanistan as an intelligence officer and has served his country aboard which is big compared to many other people who may haven’t in the primary. He can also do well in the Midwest and the rustbelt serving as mayor of south bend which he helped revitalise after a city that was likely to fail very soon. He was very popular after revitalising the Americans economy and creating new jobs He is another frontrunner who could win or could be chosen as Vice president instead we will see.

Senator Michael Bennet (Moderate Democrat and Rocky Mountains Senator)

So Senator Michael bennet is a moderate democrat who represents Colorado in the United States senate since 2009.He ran unsuccessful for the Democrat nomination and Dropped out in February 2020 after the NH Democrat Primary. Bennet is from a purple state and was nominated to replace Ken Salazar in the US Senate when he was chosen as interior Secretary. Bennet served as superintendent of the Denver education system which had a budget of over a billion dollars and was a contender for Obama education secretary but wasn’t chosen and instead was appointed the junior senator of Colorado. Bennet has fought tireless for education and equality in the US Senate being the original Senator cosponsoring the equalities bill. He is little known and I even didn’t know who he was till his announcement for president but since I have learnt who he is and I’m must say he is qualified. He has the support of the education sector and the Rocky Mountains states which could make him a serious contender in 2024. Bennet could be a great asset to Harris and could be her VP or a position in her administration. However he also has backlash he is not well like by republicans and liberals alike. Republicans due to his senate speech in the 2019 Government shutdown and Liberals as he doesn’t support Medicare for all instead a plan called Medicare x which would give uninsured people a chance for insurance as 80% of people like there insurance and we shouldn’t take that away from people. He is the underdog for 2024 and we will see what happens for him in the next few years.

Governor Andy beshear (Little known Governor but he a Governor of a southern state)

Andy beshear has served as Governor of Kentucky since 2019 defeating the then Governor by a slim margin. Beshear has a moderate streak on issues such as abortion and Religion. Beshear has never served in Washington which could work to his advantage as that would please more conservative voters. He could follow the footsteps on Governor Bill Clinton in 1992 and he could help the democrats win in the south. Now the problem is he not known to a lot and is know very well in the party compared to others in the party and has little chance of winning the first few states but he has a chance of winning states in the south and could slow the juggernaut of Harris and could make him the kingmaker in the convention in 2024. This could give him the Running mate position or a High Cabinet Position.

Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Liberal Congresswomen from New York City and Democrat-Socialist)

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or AOC Is a Political upstart who shocked the Establishment of Democrats by Defeating Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley a 10 term congressman in the primary for the NY 14th congressional District. She is a millennial and is well known to the American public by her liberal stances. She has over 12 million follower’s mostly young people she has brought around a new age in using social media for politics. She is a fierce Upstart and has a chance of the nomination in 2024 however she has support in Big Liberal states like California and New York but she isn’t the first choice for people in states like Alabama and West Virginia. However over the past few weeks she being in Texas helping people which could be a start of a unofficial candidacy for her in 2024.However the Big Challenge for her is the 2022 Senate primary in New York if she decides to run in 2022 she going to anger Moderates and She predicted not to win it which could make her lose her Credibility to be president. She is hated by Conservatives and would be an easily picking to scare swing voters against her and could lead to a landslide Loss for the Democrats. However she has got creditability to note the reason the Democrats won in 2018 was there fight for HealthCare which resulted in a big gain for the Democrats in the House which she can be take credit for.
