Australia Points System eases the entire process of Immigration

Australia uses a point-system to screen the best and the brightest international students from all corners of the world. The points system was introduced so that skilled workers can be selected without any bias. In addition, it sets a clear and transparent standard for entry and allows the Australian Government to control economic migration into the areas that are a major driver for the country’s economic growth.

There exists many pathways to get PR status from the magnificent country of Australia such as skilled independent Visa subclass 189, state nominated visa subclass 190 and last but not least skilled work regional (Provisional) visa subclass 491. Scoring a minimum of 65 points is a minimum requirement if you want to apply under any of the visa categories, be it 189, 190 or 491.

Australia PR points are awarded on the basis of certain factors such as age, proficiency in English Language, level of education, relevant years of work experience, professional year in Australia, Credentialed Community Language, partner skills and many more.

Each factor has its importance in the Australia Points System and has a number of points attached with it. For example, age plays an important role and helps you score high points. The younger the age, the higher are the chances of getting 30 points in the calculator. Also, proficiency in English language can help you fetch a maximum of 10-20 points.

Work experience for 8-10 years also helps you gain more points that in turn provide great ease to the entire Australia Immigration process. So, make sure you keep a vigilant eye on all the above-mentioned factors so that you can get an edge over others.

Recently, the Australian Government has imposed certain changes in the Australia Points System. There is no need to feel sad as it is great news for all the aspiring candidates who are thinking of making Australia their new home in 2021. The good news is that these changes are beneficial for the immigrants who are wishing to move to Australia.

Let’s take a Tour of the Changes in the Australia Points System

• 10 points will be given to the candidates who don’t not have any spouse or partner

• 10 points for the applicants who have a skilled partner or spouse

• 15 points to the candidates who either get a nomination from a state or sponsorship from any eligible family member living in Australia as a permanent resident or Australian Citizen (applicable for candidates who applied under 491 visa i.e. skilled work regional visa)

• 10 points to the candidates who have STEM Qualification (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

• 5 points to the candidates whose spouse is competent in English language. (To avail these 5 points, your spouse needs to appear for the language proficiency test)

Earlier the points for getting a nomination or sponsorship was 10, however, in order to encourage immigrants to get settled in the designated regional areas of Australia, 5 brownie points will be awarded to the ones who are ready to apply for 491 visas and get settled in the designated regional areas of Australia. Additionally, the validity for 491 visas has been extended to 5 years that earlier was 4 years.

All these changes have been made to attract the immigrants to settle in the designated regional areas of Australia without any hassle. So, if you are planning to move to Australia in 2021, ensure that you check your scores well-in-advance so that you don’t face any uncertainty in future.
