Does President Trump Have Covid19? Why Would He Lie?

Trying to navigate the conspiracy theories surrounding Trump's diagnosis...

For every one person concerned about the president’s covid19 diagnosis and treatment, there is another who believes it’s a hoax. The president doesn’t have it, he’s faking, it’s all a ploy.

But why. Why would President Trump lie about having this deadly disease (his words back in February) and what is his end game?

That’s the part that keeps hanging me up about this whole Trump Covid19 diagnosis.

What is his end game? If he’s faking the disease, he has to have a plan as to why.

Given that the timeline for his diagnosis and treatment is incredibly confusing (read: wrong, misrepresented, skewed for optics), many folks who believe he is once again lying about something big, have more than enough fodder to stir the hoax theory.

But I need to know his end game.

Oh, maybe I’m not important enough to know the end game. But the question has given me enough pause throughout the weekend that I need to un-jumble my thoughts and get them out of my head before I implode.

Why would President Trump lie and what is his end game?

Most of the country is well aware that his handling of the pandemic has been abysmal at best and downright murderous at worst. Many believe his mishandling has furthered the death count by such high numbers that he alone is responsible for causing countless Americans to succumb.

Read: we could have saved so many if he had just…

…done just about anything more regarding this virus.

His stance on mask wearing, social distancing, and other important precautions issued by his own government agency and countless medical professionals, is lax and unacceptable; particularly considering what those few tips for getting through this pandemic have done for other countries also fighting this disease.

Contradictions, half truths, and flat out lies about the seriousness of Covid19 have caused most Americans to be confused, conflicted, and outright angry in light of all the cases and most definitely all those deaths.

And then he tested positve.

One thing I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt is that we may never have known he had it if information about Hope Hicks hadn’t been leaked.

But what if that was on purpose?

Most of us believe the spread began at the Rose Garden party hosted for Amy Coney Barrett. It makes sense, given the number of people who attended and are now afflicted with the same deadly disease (remember his words) that they so carelessly touted as not a big deal for all these months.

(12 people in or around the White House have now contracted Covid19.)

Perhaps they used Hope Hicks to clear the path toward explaining President Trump’s diagnosis.

But even that doesn’t matter when you have a president who still isn’t taking this seriously. His joy ride around Walter Reed, putting his detail at great risk, is only one indication that he still doesn’t get the severity of it all and that he bears an incredible responsibility for helping (or not) us combat coronavirus effectively.

Can we all agree that we wish this was over? No one likes masks. No one likes being stuck at home. And for many of us who now have one (or more) less person at our dinner table because of this deadly disease (his words), his continued ignorance regarding it all is a slap in the face.

And we are tired of the abuse.

And we know he’s a liar. He’s lied nearly every day of his presidency. (Do the math, I’m not going to lay it out here; all it takes is common sense, truly.) His base blows off the lies, or justifies the lies, or simply does not care because they believe he is “getting the job done” despite his detractors.

We are now a country divided by those who believe it’s okay for our president to lie - and those of us daily stunned by the lack of transparency and truth that we have previously come to expect from our leaders.

This is not the way we used to do things. But I’m digressing.

Is he lying about having Covid19 and why would he lie? What is his end game?

I’ve thought and thought and thought again about what it could be. And the only lame idea I can come up with is that he is seeking the sympathy vote.

He has exhausted all other avenues (read: spewing hate, misinformation, ballot tampering, other dumb and pointless lies) and now believes that if we the people believe he’s had the disease, recovered quickly, and is stronger than ever - then we the people can believe that he is the best leader for us in this time.

It’s lame. I know.

Because no sane person would consider this and still taunt the virus by not following guidelines and safety precautions. To the extent of purposely putting so many at risk to further his agenda.

Oh, but wait. He’s done that all along.

Omgosh. I may have solved it for all of us.

President Trump, whether he has Covid19 or not, is still not putting us first. More and more folks are standing up and speaking out about his lack of care for our country. And if we weren’t still deep in the middle of a deadly pandemic, I might shake it off and chalk it up to a losing candidate who is merely trying to shore up his base and win re-election.

But I can’t. Because we are still in it. People are still getting this virus, numbers all over the country are spiking, and many many (too many) people are still dying.

And yet, we have a president who has not been truthful about when he got it (if he has it), how sick he is, and why he would endanger anyone rather than listen to the medical professionals to get through this practically and promptly.

Does he not know that if he showed us through his diagnosis the proper steps needed to get through it, that he would possibly endear us to his strength and endurance and give us hope that we will all defeat the virus?

The president doesn’t want to show weakness. I get that. Sure. But his need to be right, to be invincible, to be the smartest guy in the room, is so at odds with the reality of all this.

We need to continue taking this deadly disease (his words) seriously, even if our president will not. I had hoped that with this diagnosis he might realize how important it is to provide a clear, concise and most of all consistent message about the stark reality of it all.

Sadly, that has not happened, as evidenced by the lack of transparency, the confusing misinformation, and of course, the joy ride putting his detail (and those who love them) at great risk, simply to show his people that he is alive and well.

There are other ways he could have done that, but I’m losing sight (read: lost that many words ago) of the point here.

If President Trump does not have the virus and this was all a ploy, why?

What is his end game?

If it was to garner the sympathy vote and grow his base, he’s got to know that it’s not working in his favor.

If anyone can answer the question, please do. Why would he lie about his Covid19 diagnosis and what is his end game?

Cheers,

Sandra Lynn

Please note: I am not a political writer, but I am paying attention. More than I ever have before. We need transparency and a level of truth from our White House, OUR HOUSE, that I do not believe this administration can ever provide.

United We Stand, Divided We Fall. And the net designed to catch us and keep us safe is tragically and irrevocably torn.
