Please Prove Me Wrong

Dear Donald Trump,

I admit that I did not vote for you and have never liked you. Since you became the President of the United States, my President, I have hoped for you and wished you well. I did not wish for you to fail to prove that you are an idiot. I did not hope for you to commit a blunder so that you would be laughed out of the White House. Unfortunately, you still did those things. What is worse, you did those things in a way only a narcissistic, pathological liar could have.

Not only are we facing a pandemic of large proportions, but we are facing it with a President who obviously does not care for the average person. You have showed this many times. When you discussed the possibility of America opening up from quarantine weeks earlier than the experts who work for the American people, you showed that you did not care. When you discussed firing Dr. Fauci because he said inconvenient truths, you showed that you did not care. When you caused problem after problem with the Russian Investigation and even fired the man in charge of said investigation, you showed that you did not care. You have showed that you do not care many times over.

Looking at your actions, your speeches and those that you surround yourself with, I can only come to one conclusion. That you want power over people. The more people that you have power over, the better in your eyes. You want to rule, not just because you like the feel of having power, but because you want to show that you are right. That everything that you have said and done in your life was right because it lead to you being the President of the United States. You do not understand reality, especially the reality of the average American. You do not care who gets hurt, who suffers, who is stifled, so long as it is because of what you say, do or leads you to what you want. Your insane lust for power has hurt many, and, unless you change or are elected from office, will continue to hurt more.

Because America is a world power, you affect more than just Americans. You affect our allies, our enemies and those in between. The funding, military decisions and public policies are the most direct way that you affect people globally. However, your verbal support for dictators, your blatant disregard for fair, democratic elections and your pushing of fascist ideas affects the World and not just America. More than likely, you not just know this, but relish it.

You are my President, Donald Trump. I hoped that this would turn out to be a good thing. Unfortunately, it has, so far, not been a good thing. While I will continue to hope for the best, I and the rest of America will have to be prepared for the worst. For that, I think, is what you bring to the table in American politics and for the American people. The ability to create and put in motion some of what will turn out to be the worst in American history.

I sincerely hope that you will do better, be better and leave America in a better place than it is now. If you do not, know that it will be what you will be remembered for, and that it will be held for or against you. It is all up to you and what you say, do and help others in the government do. If you want to behave like a spoiled, bratty, power hungry leader, history and the world will treat you that way.

Hoping Sincerely That You Become Better,

Amanda L. Clark, LMSW
