Four leaks have been found in the Nora Stream 1 and Nora Stream 2 gas pipelines since the Danish Maritime Authority said on Sept. 26 that a gas leak had occurred in the country's waters from the Russian Nora Stream 2 pipeline.

And as you can see from the satellite view, hundreds of tons of gas are coming out of the damaged Nora Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, turning parts of the sea between Denmark, Sweden, Poland, and Germany into a giant Jacuzzi.

The Canadian company Ghats estimates that 79,000 kilograms of methane, the main gas in natural gas, is escaping from just one hole in the Nora Stream 2 pipeline every hour. Its emissions are equivalent to burning 900,000 kilograms of coal in one hour, the company said in a statement.

It wasn't until a few days later that the leak stopped on October 2, according to the Danish Energy Agency. Meanwhile, the GIG Sat satellite did not detect any leaks in its follow-up measurements after Oct. 3.

In addition, Europe's Sentinel-5 satellite has also attempted to assess the extent of the leak. A statement through the European Space Agency showed that the Nora Stream pipeline released methane roughly equivalent to a day and a half of global methane emissions. It is believed that about 300,000 tons of methane should have been in the pipeline at the time of the leak.

Who is the most likely culprit behind the leak?

It is important to know that the pipe of the Nora Stream pipeline has an inner diameter of 1.15 meters and a thickness of 41 mm, which is stronger than the armor of light tanks in the early days of World War II. And there is 60 to 110 mm thick reinforced concrete outside the steel pipe, each steel pipe weighs 25 tons and is mostly laid 80 to 100 meters underwater.

Four consecutive leaks must have been caused by submersibles or mini-submarines carrying hundreds of kilograms of explosives for directional blasting. At the same time, the preliminary findings of the "Nora Stream" leak also confirmed everyone's suspicions. For example, the Swedish side believes that the pipeline was intentionally sabotaged by human beings increasing suspicion. U.S. President Joe Biden also on the "Nora Stream" pipeline damage, responding that it was "deliberately sabotaged.

The biggest losers in this incident must be Russia and Germany. Among them, Russia lost a bargaining chip, forced it to take the path of confrontation, but also make Europe more vulnerable to the energy crisis caused by the impact of a serious economic downturn, and thus the United States to harvest a wave.

Considering that the United States is the biggest beneficiary of the event, it makes us wonder if it is the culprit. And most dramatically, there is evidence that a U.S. Navy reconnaissance aircraft flew near the rupture when the Nora Stream 1 and 2 pipelines leaked on Sept. 26. Russia has therefore publicly stated that it will retaliate against U.S. gas carriers if the Nora Stream leak is indeed the work of the United States.

But if the U.S. is really behind the fire, will Russia be forced to use nuclear weapons to counter it?

As the four eastern states of Ukraine are publicly committed to Russia and the Nora Stream pipeline explodes, both push the war to a more dangerous edge. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to send money and guns to Ukraine, making Russia talk about a "nuclear strike" now and then. To avoid nuclear war, the United States and Russia have to restart the "red phone".

The so-called "red phone" actually came from a nuclear war crisis that almost got out of hand - the Cuban Missile Crisis!

As a result, the Soviet Union deployed a total of 42 nuclear warheads in Cuba, aimed directly at the U.S. homeland to counteract them. In turn, then-President John F. Kennedy became furious and quickly assembled a naval fleet to blockade Cuba, and a major war was imminent.

The two countries are at loggerheads, both hovering around the nuclear bomb button, their respective nuclear warheads ready to go, mankind has never stood so close to the edge of a nuclear war. Never before has mankind stood so close to the brink of a nuclear war. Once the fight begins, both sides will surely be destroyed by the other's nuclear bombs.

At this critical juncture, the White House was the first to write a letter, via the transmitter, to the Kremlin in the Soviet Union. Khrushchev weighed the pros and cons and decided to withdraw the nuclear bombs.

Since then, the United States and the Soviet Union have decided to establish a "hotline" system of high-level communication, also known as the Red Phone! But since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the "Red Phone" has been abandoned by the United States.

The relaunch of the "red phone" shows that both the United States and Russia want to maximize the risk of nuclear war by communicating directly with each other at high levels. But the fact that the U.S. is now willing to restart the "red phone" also means that the U.S. has sufficient intelligence to prove that Russia does want to drop a nuclear bomb. So it seems that the risk of nuclear war is not low at all!

But most likely, even if Russia were to use nuclear weapons, they would only be tactical nuclear weapons. So-called tactical nuclear weapons, unlike giant megaton bombs capable of destroying entire cities, are not designed to start World War III. They are intended to do just the opposite, to avoid dragging the world into a nuclear war.

As the name implies, tactical nuclear weapons are designed for battlefield rather than strategic use. In short, these are very low-yield nuclear warheads used to very quickly counter large conventional forces with minimal collateral damage to nearby civilians and property.

These weapons range in yield from less than a thousand tons to 50,000 tons. The concern, however, is that in terms of size, the Hiroshima bomb had a yield of about 15,000 tons, so some of the larger tactical nuclear weapons are also quite destructive. And one of the problems with tactical nuclear weapons is that over the years the line between tactical and strategic weapons has begun to blur more and more.

The good thing is that according to the latest Russian release, the B-line of Nora Stream 2 is under normal pressure and will continue to supply gas to Europe if the pipeline is identified as available. This also makes the conflict here there is room for maneuvering. But if it is deliberate sabotage, is it reasonable to assume that there will be another explosion? In short, we still hope that the United States and Russia will be restrained enough to avoid pulling the world down with them.
