Even if you don't win.

Who is Mayor Pete Buttigeig? Will he win the nomination to be President of the United States of America? He would be the first openly gay candidate to ever run for President. That's cool, right? Or is he the best Presidential candidate! Initially piqued by his willingness to be open and vulnerable about his personal life I started to research Mayor Pete Buttigeig. Plagued with rumors and ramblings about his lack of cultural competence and his inability to connect with Black Americans due to his track record as Mayor of South Bend, the amount of incarcerated citizens, social injustice, and the poverty amongst the African American community, I started to look for ways he might still be a great candidate. How might we all address, provide solutions, and contribute to changing those issues? In many instances in addition to voting for a presidential candidate who promises to change the African American plight and does very little to nothing at all, we forget that we can also voice concerns at city council meetings and that those smaller city government bodies are tributaries spilling in the river of national government.

Aids is an epidemic. Global, reports, Aids related deaths have dropped by 55% since its peak in 2004. Of the 37.9 million people infected with HIV, 24.5 million people recieved antiretroviral treatment in 2019.

Mayor Pete Buttigeig says everyone with HIV should be in treatment and as part of his overall health equity plan he will address some of the overwhelming stigmas and social issues that make access to healthcare for poor people difficult. He also promises to increase funding in research and preventative measures to end HIV once and for all. He is a supporter of the Affordable Healthcare Act and promotes access to healthcare for all through his implementation of a healthcare plan.

Have you heard of the therapeutic fraud prevention act? It would prohibit conversion therapy which is currently legal in 31 states. With conversion therapy being considered a legitimate treatment plan for children is there any wonder why there are so many negative attitudes towards lesbians and gays and an overall increase in bullying and teen suicide and transsexual deaths over the last year. Mayor Buttigeig is champion of Human Rights.

What's in rural america? If you've lived in a major metropolitan city, all of your life, you might not be familiar with the smaller cities and towns of America where most of our food and energy comes from in the from of coal, oil, natural gas. The major wow moment comes when one sees or hears that many of the people who live in rural America are being left behind. By supporting agriculture and investing in rural communities Pete promises to build a network of apprenticeships and a 50% tax deduction to companies who offer internships to people living in rural communities. Will this empower people who live in rural communities to combat climate change?

His administration will include attention to the Mental Health Care of people in urban and rural communities. With increased production demands, increased individualism, competition and rising economic concerns, growing global demands to be an image, perfectionism and population increase, coupled with a lack of understanding with regard to the numerous capacities of the mind, people are seeking to address mental issues from within a society, that may not be created to promote health vitality and freedom. So it is that when one deviates from the norm he or she is considered mentally disordered. And what was once a deviance today may be a contribution to humanity. Thanks Pete Buttigeig for doing an awesome job running for President, in an America, sometimes divided on issues of sexuality, even if you don't win?
