Compassion in Action – Part 3

Thoughts from the Coalition

In the effort to mobilize compassion to help progress humanity towards the achievement of a better global human civilization we have explored the previous confines that may have limited our ability to demonstrate compassion to its furthest extent. Without the mobilization of compassion, we will not be able to ensure our actions will create the resulting global human civilization that we hope to create. A species that is compassionate to itself and others have a higher probability of synergizing with others which in turn will allow for greater potential to arise from that species. To unlock the full benefits of compassion and to allow its capabilities to guide us in the achievement of building a better global human civilization, we must continue the expansion of our perceptions of who and what we can demonstrate compassion towards.

In the most traditional sense of the word, the act of demonstrating compassion is directed towards another human being. Whether that is towards yourself through self-compassion or towards others through a more generalized sense of compassion, the intended recipient of our compassion is a human being. The question we propose to our fellow human beings is can compassion guide how we interact with other entities of existence that we are currently perceiving in our experience of human life?

As the HCRC, our answer to that question is simple. Why not. Although compassion is traditionally defined by direct awareness of another’s suffering and a desire to alleviate it, just because something cannot verbalize a current state of suffering doesn’t mean that it isn’t in a state of suffering. We must expand our perceptions of what we can be compassionate towards, by removing the belief that we should only give compassion when the situation calls for it. Just because someone or something isn’t in an active state of suffering, it does not mean that we should not be compassionate towards that same thing. We must be proactive in our utilization of the all-inclusive compassion that is necessary to build a better global human civilization. When we can look at being proactively compassionate towards not only other human beings but towards all forms of existence that we perceive, whether that be the Planet Earth we exist on or anything else existing on the planet, we can look past the need for a dire problem to justify why it is important to act compassionately towards all forms of existence.

This concept of being proactively compassionate towards things outside of other human beings is something that many of us practice in one way or another. Take the example of an automobile owner and the vehicle of their choosing. If you are someone that values and cherishes your vehicle, you could say that you are compassionate towards that vehicle. If you are truly compassionate towards your vehicle though, you wouldn’t wait until the vehicle has broken down to start being compassionate towards it. You would be proactively compassionate towards the vehicle by performing routine maintenance to ensure that your vehicle can operate properly avoiding the potential of it breaking down.

If we can approach the institutions and systems needed to run a global human civilization with a sense of proactive compassion we can ensure that we build a global human civilization that is being maintained as we go, rather than waiting until our civilization has broken down to then be concerned and compassionate towards it. This version of prolonged compassion can be seen as reactive compassion. In many cases, a lack of proactive compassion causes a need for a larger effort of reactive compassion.

We can look at humanity’s current state of affairs in this same regard. Now that humanity is under a state of distress with the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are beginning to see many areas of the global human civilization as well as human beings themselves that have been built without the principle of all-inclusive compassion engrained within them. Now that humanity is experiencing this crucible we must realize that the need for the principle of all-inclusive compassion to guide us as a species is more necessary than ever.

While we are being guided by the principle of proactive all-inclusive compassion we must remember to not only look at who we can be compassionate towards, but also what we can be compassionate towards. We must look at how we interact with other species and the Planet Earth. We must look at how we treat the things we come into contact with through the course of our daily lives as human beings. When compassion becomes a driving force behind the actions of every human being, our global human civilization will begin to operate with the best interest of each member of the human species as well as every other thing that is within the existence we experience.

To operate in a proactively compassionate manner as a human being takes daily practice. We must analyze our actions while deciding what action to take in the first place and conditioning it against the principle of compassion. While some may experience a seamless ability to be guided by the principle of compassion, others may have to more consciously analyze their actions and work harder to build the ability to be guided by the principle of compassion. No matter what end of the spectrum you fall under or whether you cover the full range of the spectrum given the specific circumstances of a situation, we each have the opportunity to enhance our abilities to be guided by the principle of proactive all-inclusive compassion in our day to day actions.

As the HCRC, we believe that proactive all-inclusive compassion is a key principle that we must be guided by to ensure we obtain a better global human civilization. This is just one of many principles we must utilize in our day to day mindset to ensure we honor every other human being’s privileges of existence. Only then can we say we live in a global human civilization that has the best interest in mind for every member of our civilization. Join us next Friday, as we explore the next principle that we believe must be utilized to guide humanity towards a better global human civilization.
