Biden Believes That President Trump Deserves A Chance

Has the former VP seen what's happened under President Trump?

You have got to give credit to former Vice President Joe Biden - he believes everyone deserves a fair chance, even the new president.

Biden was not President Trump's biggest fan during the run up to the presidency, having commented that Trump has "no clue" and that he "would've loved Stalin." Surely, these are not the expressions of a man who is enamored with the current president of the United States. However, Biden does believe that everyone deserves a fair shot in any new job, including President Trump.

Biden was at the University of Delaware for a press conference when a reporter asked if President Trump deserved a fair chance to govern. "Sure he does," Mr. Biden replied, according to The Blaze.

He noted that the Republican president didn't appear to believe that he would win the presidency and was currently playing "catch-up" while Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton had a transition team in place nine months before the election.

“We knew if we won who we were gonna ask to do A, B, C, and D,” Biden said. “In fairness to [Mr. Trump], I don’t think there was thought to be any necessity to do that."

Biden went on to explain that a lack of preparedness to win was the reason why Trump has not put in an appearance on any of the talk shows; the current president had simply been unprepared to win the presidency and as such, couldn't afford the time to go on the talk show circuit as President Obama had done in the past.

Vice President Biden was at the University of Delaware to formally launch The Biden Institute, a non-partisan organization. He said he planned to continue to challenge President Trump on policies that he did not agree with, but emphasized that the institute's overarching goal was not political in nature.

Mr. Biden has also spoken against President Trump's seeming immaturity. In January, President Trump tweeted that he was "Doing my best to disregard the many inflammatory President O statements and roadblocks. Thought it was going to be a smooth transition - NOT!"

Biden was asked about the tweets and replied that he believed it was time for the current president to "grow up."

"You're president," Biden said, appearing to speak directly to President Trump. "You've got to do something. Show us what you have. You're going to propose legislation. We're going to get to debate it. Let the public decide. Let them vote in Congress. Let's see what happens."

He noted that the current president was also treading on dangerous turf by expressing his lack of faith in the federal intelligence community.

"For a President not to have confidence in, not to be prepared to listen to the myriad of intelligence agencies from defense intelligence, to the CIA, et cetera, is absolutely mindless," Biden said at the time. "It's just mindless."

During the presidential election, then-Vice President Biden noted that President Trump was not a "bad man".

"He's not a bad man," Biden said. "But his ignorance is so profound, so profound."

Now, though, it would appear that Mr. Biden believes that President Trump was just simply caught off guard when he won the presidency, and believes that the man who is now president is just trying to get on top of things.

“He deserves a chance and in fairness to him, this is a man in my view, who understandably like all the press thought, didn’t think he was gonna win,” Biden said.
