Trump’s on the campaign trail, again. The question: why? Why is a second termed president hosting rallies? Why is he trying to win votes when he’s already in office? Legally speaking, Trump cannot run for a third term. The constitution (which he and his regime consider the equivalent of a one-ply toilet tissue) clearly states a president may hold no more than two terms. Yet, Trump constantly holds rallies with a dwindling audience. The answer: because he is on the ballot, just not in the way we think.
For the first half of Trump’s authoritarian take over, Americans witness his regime violate several constitutional amendments with very little/no accountability from Congress or the Supreme Court. The world witnessed mass deportation without a fair trial, several human rights violations, both the president and congressional politicians earned profit off the stock market based on Trump’s statements, and alleged various war crimes against other countries. According to the polls, the actions of the republicans and Trump’s regime has angered many Americans. Even those who swore to support Trump have started to open their eyes and plan to vote against Republicans this election cycle. Long story short, Congress is primed to switch to Democratic control after the mid-terms (assuming we have a free and fair election). Depending on the elected democratic candidates, several politicians plan to launch investigations on Trump, his family, and his closest allies. This may be the drive to Trump’s run on the campaign trail.
The good news, Trump currently holds a waning popularity over the American MAGA fanatics. Many people express disappointment over Trump’s handling of the economy, particularly gas prices. Trump spent half of his second term stamping tariffs on nearly every household product imported into the country, overlooking where the bill falls: the American consumer. By creating a double-punch on Americans’ wallet and witnessing their elected officials in either the house of representatives, or senate, do very little to fight back, people hunger for change. Congress will fall into democratic hands and the Trump Regime wants to prevent it.
Yet, Trump stands in front of hundreds of people spewing the same lies he’s been spewing for years. Blaming the high cost of healthcare on Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) and other economic problems instead of sharing solutions to make American lives easier. That situation should be alarming to everyone listening and watching. Historically, presidents stood on stage to offer solutions to our everyday struggles. However, Trump loves to brag about accomplishing so much for the American public, but never delves into detail about what exactly he has done. Trump’s not the only one. Mike Johnson and JD Vance also stand on stage, or in front of reporters, claiming “we have done so much for the American people” without explicitly sharing what details of their accomplishments. In fact, JD Vance distorted his claim by adding, “just give us a second chance.” Think about that phrase. When is it used? Usually when there’s a mistake, and broken trust. The words, “just give me/us another chance” pops up. The question now is, will the American public fall for another round of deception?
What have the Republicans accomplished in the past two years, aside from blatantly ignoring the unconstitutional acts of the Trump Regime? Congress passed the Big Beautiful Bill and celebrated this accomplishment. The bill will raise healthcare premiums for millions of Americans on ACA and set to begin in January (in anticipation of Congress flipping). The republicans, under Mike Johnson, have accomplished the most days out of work and the most government shutdowns. The first occurred on October 1, 2025 and lasted until November 12 over healthcare subsidies. During the shutdown time, Trump threatened to cut Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for Americans and blamed the shutdown on the Democrats (who wanted to extend tax subsidies). The second partial shutdown occurred on January 31 until February 3, of 2026. However, because it was an issue over Immigration and Customs Enforcements (ICE), it later extended from February 14 to April 30th. This shutdown affected only the Department of Homeland Security (TSA agents, ICE, etc.). Around this same time, two US citizens were fatally shot by ICE agents, which lead to the stall in action from Congress. Democrats wanted ICE reform, but the Republicans stood against it.
While Trump, Vance, and Johnson love to brag about their accomplishments, the house of representatives are, once again, on a recess by Mike Johnson. Truthfully, it makes sense to go to recess so representatives can return to their home state and campaign. However, some speculate the reason behind the early recess is to avoid a vote on impeaching Pete Hegseth. Regardless, many will agree this is the most unproductive congressional session in American history.
What we, the people, can do? Make your voice heard. Double check your voter registration. Vote early and, if possible, bring your ballot to a drop box if you reside in a vote-by-mail state. Trump continues his assault on voting by mail and we need to ensure every vote counts, legally. Avoid Trump loyalists and their propaganda. American are now wading through the political swamp, seeping in through their mobile phones, television, and more. Last, question everything. Trump’s strategy relies heavily on manufactured fear. When politicians blame marginalized people for problems, that’s fear-mongering.
Together, we can get our country back. Together, we can remove the Trump Regime from continuing to poison our country. Together, we can bring each other hope.
