Pointing Out the Obvious

Okay, it really doesn’t take much to figure out why this theory is only one breath away from being inevitable. The recent times because of the COVID-19 situation, has kept everybody in doors. For longer than is really necessary? Yes. But still, the results of this on people’s relationships is clearly driving people into one of two directions. We have seen a major increase in people filing for divorce and non-married couples braking up. That’s one of the directions. The other direction… couples who are still in love and staying together, have more free time and the same amount of passion. That generally equals one obvious result.

That result is that a lot more couples are having sex way more often than they did before they were stuck together indoors all day and every day. It’s not unreasonable to think that this is going to cause a sudden increase in the number of pregnancies across the world. After a time that is going to result in another baby boom. Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I guess time will tell the answer to that particular question. Good or bad… it seems more than a probability to happen at this point.

Devil’s Advocate. Maybe and Maybe Not

I will play the Devil’s Advocate and say that perhaps the number of couples breaking up might very well, off balance the increased amount of sex that is taking place. It is possible that with so many couples being broken up from spending so much time together and being forced to really deal with the relationship- couples that might would have gone om to have kids- could offset that balance. An educated guess? It probably won’t offset it enough. The baby boom is likely going to happen within the next year or so.

Of course, it has to be considered that many couples are also unfortunately separated from one another due to having to quarantine and the restrictions that were placed on travel. Even when you add these couples to the number of people who are splitting up, it is doubtful that they will outnumber all those who are seeing a huge increase in their sex lives. After all, you must also consider that a decent number of the people who are having more sex now were not a couple before being stuck in close proximity for a long period of time.

Would a Baby Boom Harm the World?

For those who have mentioned the likely baby boom, one of the most common questions posed is, would another baby boom harm the world and the economy? This question seems simple at first, but once you truly begin to think about it, you can begin to see more and more gray area. Soon, everything should be opening back up and the world should begin to run at a normal pace once again.

That being the case, a baby boom would not harm the economy to a dangerous degree. Development and manufacturing and the entire supply and demand would begin to balance itself out rather rapidly. The babies who were born would grow in a world that was far more educated about the dangers and behaviors needed to stay safe. It seems as though the long-term effects would be fine, but the short-term effects may slow the progress of rebuilding the economy.

Quick Closing

As scary as many of the questions that have, do and will continue to come up are… it is important to remember one key aspect. No matter the political unrest, the health scare, the changes that occur, the world will continue to move forward. The planet will adapt, nature will adapt, and the people will adapt. In other words, we are all going to be fine.
