An Open Letter To Our New President

To President Biden

First off let me say congratulations on becoming the president during such a crucial time in the United States history. One could argue that this was one of the most controversial elections that we have ever experienced. You still managed to win through all the corruption, lies and deceit. Now that you have been in office for a little over a month, hopefully you have had time to settle in. I know people are expecting you to work A miracle after walking into a disaster from the previous administration. This letter is simply one to help you understand that the communities are hurting. All of this bickering back-and-forth between senators and governors Who have never had to live in inhumane situations is disheartening. There won’t be a change until these Senators and governors realize that they have The livelihoods of all Americans in their hands. Maybe if their salaries were cut drastically like many of ours were cut due to Covid we could get some action faster. I have watched these governors and senators go on vacation while the American people are left hanging waiting for Mere chump change. I don’t understand what there is to debate about when you are supposed to be here to help the American people. We pay our taxes every year, and even pay back taxes when we are “ overpaid.” We are still driving on roads with big potholes, our children are still at home attempting to learn virtually and yet you all are debating about helping the American people. The money that we do make is put right back into the community because it’s being used to pay down high bills, buy groceries, and all around catch up from the hole that many Americans have gone into since this pandemic began. Now for someone who paid attention to basic high school economics, I understand that it takes more than you proposing help for the American people for the bill to pass. However there doesn’t seem like there’s much urgency to really help our people. How are other countries able to help their people but America, The “greatest country known”, is the one who struggles to help their people the most? Our parents are now receiving dates that their children are going back to school but how is that possible when classroom sizes need to be decreased significantly and this has been a complaint of teachers since I was in school over 20 years ago? Are we going to place more of the responsibilities on the school system to make this happen while the teachers are still drastically underpaid for the work they do? What is your actual plan to make this happen and keep our children safe? How can anyone speak on behalf of the public school system that isn’t currently in the public school system? If we can’t find the money to make these things happen, it is time to start reevaluating where our money is spent. Receiving word that the governors and senators that we nominate are receiving money to purchase furniture that equates to more than what some Americans make in a year is absolutely absurd. These laws were written years ago when we were not in such a devastating time. It’s time for drastic action and you as the president must make that happen. I understand that you have only been there a month so I know we have to give it time. I have been in a situation where I’ve had to fix a site that I inherited after a terrible supervisor ruined it, so we understand that you can’t fix everything overnight. However we are looking to see some drastic changes in the financial gaps between the wealthy and the poor. We don’t need the stimulus checks to go buy hair, nails, jewelry, fancy cars and big houses, we need the stimulus check to pay bills and to get back into the positive. Have you ever had to experience bill collectors calling threatening to repossess a car, foreclose on a house, or shut off your bills? I would say probably not. Have you ever had to hear your kids say “I’m hungry” and really not have anything to give them? I would say probably not. However many Americans are in that same boat as I write this letter. This isn’t a Power struggle or a contest to see who was the better president, this is the time where you are making decisions that can literally impact our health, actually impact our life in general. So my question to you is what are you going to do as president to make a real change? We as the voters fought through literal discrimination, aggression, intimidation, and out right disrespect from the other party’s supporters to make sure that we made our vote count. What are you going to do, how are you going to fight to show us it was worth it?
