Actions you can take RIGHT NOW.

Right now, the #EndSars movement has hit a fever-pitch after the tragic events of last night where at the Lekki Toll Gate, members of the Nigerian army opened fire on peaceful protestors sitting down unarmed, waving the Nigerian flag and singing the national anthem.

It was a horrible night covered extensively by a brave woman on the scene, DJ Switch, via Instagram live video. I covered all that happened on that LIVE yesterday in a post and you can check that story out below:

Today, I want to give all of us a chance to become active in helping Nigeria, in helping the #EndSars movement and in helping those victims of yesterday’s shooting.

Below, I will be listing out 5 Things You Can Do RIGHT NOW to help Nigeria. Even if you do just one of these, it could go a long way. Nobody has the perfect solution on how to cause total repair in one day, but at least by doing one, two, or all five of these, we can hopefully get one step closer to a more peaceful, much better Nigeria.

I have a really fun page. If you like my page, you will have fun too. So what's stopping you? Like my page and let's have fun together!

1. Educate Yourself

Before you can take any actions, you need to know exactly what is going on and what Nigerians are fighting for.

Here are some suggested readings and viewings of all sorts that can help you learn more about what’s going on.

2. Contact People Who Can Help

Now that you know what is going on, we need you to help us contact people who can help.

Contact via tagging on social media, messaging, etc. international bodies and powerful people all over the world who you think will be able to help Nigeria.

A simple template you can copy and paste is:

Hello (insert name of person you’re tagging), I want to bring to your attention the wickedness happening in Nigeria. Please Google keyword “EndSars” to quickly get up to speed with what's happening. I believe you are a person of power, please use your power today to help the bleeding nation of Nigeria.

This word count is sufficient for Twitter and you can add or tweak as you like to share on other platforms.

People and organizations you can reach out to include:

The United Nations (@UN),

CNN (@CNN),

BBC World (@BBCWorld),

BBC Africa (@BBCAfrica),

Your favorite celebrities,

and any single person you think can help.

We need everybody all over the world to know what is going on with Nigeria. We don’t know where our help might come from so we must spread our message far and wide so it reaches every single ear.

3. Sign These Petitions.

Alright, these are quick, easy and can be done really fast. Again, I don’t know if this would help a little or a lot, but anything we can do at this moment, let us try to do.

Below are three petitions I need you to sign right now.

4. Donate If You Can.

There’s so much hardship and unrest right now. People who were shot need medical attention, there’s so much chaos, anything monetary can help right now. Here are two places you can donate to right now that are not only legitimate but also actually helping.

5. Finally, Keep The Conversation Going

The last thing we need is for this #EndSARS movement to become just another blip in history or something that becomes “that thing that happened” which we all forgot about and then moved on to talking about other things.

We need to keep the conversation going. We need to keep the hashtags trending.

Please tweet, retweet, Facebook post, share, send via Whatsapps, do anything within your power to continue to get the word out there about what is going on.

Stay glued to the news. On social media, on television. Anything you see that you think is worth sharing, please share it. This fire cannot be put out. We need this conversation to keep going.

***********************************************************************

I love you guys and I know that Nigeria is a great nation. This is not going to break us. We are strong and we are capable. This time, WE WILL WIN!

That’s All.
