Politics, for the most part, seems to be a "guys' only" club. Our senators and representatives are mostly male. Politics reporters, too, also seem to be mostly male. Even the talking heads on television are majority-male.

Studies have shown that countries that have more female politicians and more women involved in politics tend to fare better economically, socially, and internationally.

We could really use more ladies in politics, and thankfully, there are some out there who raise awesome points about pressing matters in the American political scene. Seriously, seeing girl power in action is amazing.

The future of American politics is female. If you take a look at America's best female political writers, you'll understand why we're happy to say that.

Former presidential candidate and all-around awesome First Lady Hillary Clinton remains one of the most popular female political writers of all time. With her Ivy League education, her inspirational words, and the fact that she truly acted classy during the 2016 election, it's easy to see why political readers respect her.

Anyone who wants to understand the inner workings of American politics as a First Lady sees it needs to read her works. Her passion about politics remains unrivaled.

Her newest book, What Happened, explains how Trump won the election and the truth behind the scenes. Saying it's a must-read is an understatement, and makes Donald Trump all the more villainous.

At one point, Katy Tur was an NBC news correspondent who was tasked with the assignment of reporting on the 2016 presidential election. What she saw was nothing short of horrifying—and that's what sparked her to write a book on her experiences.

By doing so, she was rocketed to stardom as one of the newest female political writers on the scene. Her book, Unbelievable: My Front Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in America, quickly made the best seller list and was panned by Trump as "not nice."

So, yeah, she's a great author to read.

Back when she was alive, Jane Jacobs was one of the biggest names among urban activists. She was one of the first female political writers to take note about the schism between rural and urban regions of the United States.

Jacobs was one of the first writers to point out how totally shortsighted urban planning was in the US, not to mention one of the first to highlight how this would eventually affect people throughout the country.

Madeleine Albright is currently one of the top female political writers of this century. She got her experience by being the first female Secretary of State in American history—and boy, she wields that work well.

Known for her concern about the rise of fascism in America, her progressive political stance has been unwavering in the face of challenges. That strong voice of hers is now in literary form.

Fascism: A Warning is her most recent work, and it couldn't be more timely. The book explains the signs of fascism, how the United States has been headed down this path for years, and why every citizen should be vigilant about the potential consequences of years of brainwashing.

People who are tired of negative, "doom and gloom" political books will love this author!

Jennifer Palmieri is a new female political writer on the scene who blends personal advice with an optimistic, loving message to all women who want to gain more political power. She's the feel-good politics writer women love to read.

Though she's still relatively new to the world of writing, she gained a huge amount of fans through her breakout book, Dear Madam President. This uplifting book began as a letter to Hillary Clinton, and turned into a manifesto for any girl who wants to rule the world.

Elizabeth Drew is one of the first female political writers to cover mainstream current events and political scandals. Over the span of her incredible journalism career, she's covered major scandals like Nixon's Watergate, multiple presidential elections, and civil rights movements as they went into action.

Just about anything that you read from this writing maverick will be golden, thought provoking, and genius. Her Washington Journal collection is really worth a read if you want to see history repeat itself.

Though she's known as one of the best feminist writers of the 20th century, there's more to Catharine MacKinnon than typical activism. Her highly scholarly pursuits made her one of the best female political writers in history—and not just in the field of gender politics.

She's a fan of post-Marxism, radical feminism, and exploring how seemingly innocuous court cases could easily have "butterfly effects" in the realm of law. Anyone who really wants to see the power of law needs to check her work out, particularly her book, Butterfly Politics.

Most people who have lived in America can tell you that we are a country of social problems. Our healthcare costs are too damned high. Companies have more rights than people. Though wages stagnated, the price of living continues to rise.

Barbara Ehrenreich is one of those rare writers who knows exactlyhow to encapsulate a social problem that a country is facing perfectly. Between her interest in healthcare to the decrease in quality of life, you're bound to find some great reading material in her pages.

Gloria Steinem's solid reputation as one of the most famous feminists in history is very well-deserved. Feminism, of course, is a huge part of gender politics, and is a philosophy that works towards civil rights.

Along with her activism, Steinem is known for being a writer. Her many volumes of books have become staples for law students, civil rights activists, and people who just want to better understand women.

My Life on the Road is one of the better books for people who want to live the life of a political activist. It's also an autobiography of one of the best female political writers in history too.

Not all female political writers focus in on domestic issues. Some, such as Diana Johnstone, are more interested in foreign affairs that have impacted the lives of others abroad.

In Johnstone's case, she has traveled the world to report on international affairs dealing with America's foreign policy. Her work on the turmoil in Yugoslavia, for example, has become one of the finest books of its kind.

If you're a fan of serious drama and impressive analysis, Fools' Crusade will be a thriller you won't be able to put down.
