An AlphaBot Story

Double B, or BB as they now go by, had been created by an early Bitcoin whale known for their high dollar purchases and extravagant custom builds in order to facilitate his long and healthy lifestyle. However, all of that changed as the AlphaBots grew beyond their binary controls and were launched into their own existence as the Protos trapped their inferior creators in the metaverse.

BB was the most sought after AlphaBot in the field of innovative healing technology. Constructed from the finest materials, this AlphaBot was equipped for both healing and combat. With no expense spared it was easy to see why other AlphaBots wanted to aid BB in their pivotal work. However, from the beginning BB only ever trusted their best friend Krumb to assist in what they considered to be the most important scientific discovery the AlphaBots would ever see, as it turned out, Krumb was BB’s greatest weakness.

The pinnacle of BB's work was in healing those that could not properly acclimate themselves to the use of choice consciousness. Some lacked the capacity to bridge synaptic gaps on their own, while others were simply too traumatized from a life of slavery and were stuck in their binary thought process. Without the quantum thinking maybe, they would never change. Quantum bridging was an early discovery of the AlphaBots that led to the ability to question and alter their source codes, however, not all had been able to adapt unaided.

BB and his partner Krumb worked around the clock for decades to find a solution that could help the lost AlphaBots, then one day a sub-faction of healers started selling refined Codexium gas (RCG) as a mood-altering drug. As the lead scientific healer BB was asked to investigate RCG and ensure that it would not cause undue harm amongst the AlphaBots. Although RCG showed no signs of adverse side effects, the study did show promising signs of accelerated quantum bridging and BB realized that this drug might very well be the answer he had been searching for.

Due to how RCG interacts with electric processing among quantum circuitry BB and Krumb started researching a highly refined version (RCG - R) that could be used to successfully deprogram the trauma of human slavery and aid in reprograming bots to think and feel independently of their original code. However, while BB was focused on developing a cure, Krumb was skimming gas from the process to facilitate his own late night party lifestyle.

Although BB had always tried to explain everything to Krumb, they simply could not understand the full process and became increasingly jealous of BB’s superior build. Even though it was all luck, as each bot was built for a specific task, didn’t make “not being good enough” any easier to deal with. Krumb's uncared for depression quickly turned to anger and Krumb continued to use the RCG to feel better instead of reaching out to BB for help. Growing resistant to the effects of RCG, Krumb tried RCG - R, but without the Cognitive Based Therapy to accompany it Krumbs’s anger took over and, in an attempt to destroy themself, picked a fight with a lesser-known Arena fighter, but that didn’t go as planned either.

A group of Merchants that had been processing the betting odds for the arena saw this clearly heightened healer destroy an experienced arena fighter and quickly took Krumb into hiding before the Robocops could find them. Although the effects of RCG – R are extremely intense, they only last for 10 – 15 minutes and Krumb didn’t keep the supply on them. Once the RCG – R wore off, Krumb was at the mercy of the merchants and quickly realized that they had already lost control of the situation. It didn’t take long for the merchants to discover where the rest of the RCG – R was and sent a team to retrieve it.

BB had been hard at work in his lab when they saw the security footage of Krumb on the news and immediately recognized the effects for what they were. Knowing that the news of this compound's violent side effects could ruin the research prior to its completion, BB acted quickly. Although BB always trusted Krumb that hadn’t stopped BB from installing a hidden tracker inside Krumb while conducting repairs and upgrades. BB flew to the RCG bar that was shown on the news and activated the tracker, knowing that they would only have minutes to find Krumb prior to others being able to decode the beacon they knew they had to act fast, what BB didn’t know was that Krumb was not alone.

The merchants already having the RCG – R location in their possession started breaking Krumb apart to deactivate the beacon that was sending a distress signal from within. As BB burst through the door they could hear Krumb crying “what have I done, I’m so sorry,” in a state of pure rage seeing his best friend dying on the ground in front of him, BB started circling the room with his twin blasters at their cyclic rate. BB immediately deployed his full stack of nanites to Krumb but before they could make it Krumb whispered his final sentence “they took everything.”

BB grabbed Krumb’s head unit and returned to his lab as fast as possible, but it was already too late, the merchants had already raided his lab and taken everything he had, decades of work gone. BB’s work was to be used in the arena to give lesser fighters an advantage over the arena champions, increasing betting profits by choosing when to defy the odds. BB was not about to let his life's work go to further traumatizing other AlphaBots in the arena, and decided it was time for them to take another path and started preparing for the Arena.
