Ethical living is a philosophy wherein decisions are made for a daily life with ethical and moral values. Sustainable fashion is clothes, shoes, and accessories made from beginning to end using the most sustainable ways. Those ways take care of natural resources, use renewable energy sources, and maximize repairs and reuse. Keep reading to learn about some ways to achieve sustainability in fashion.

By changing laundry habits.

Whether people continue to purchase more clothes because they love shopping or they take better care of the clothes they currently have, changing the way we do laundry will account for about 30 percent of the environmental effects of ethical living. Some ways to change laundry habits includes; only washing full loads, using cold water more often, avoid dry cleaning and tumble dryers, using green detergent, and spraying clothes with rosewater and wearing them multiple times before washing. These tips will help clothes last longer, thus avoiding the necessity to purchase new clothes as often.

Shop for consignment clothes.

Sustainable brands may be a more expensive investment right now. If that is the case for you, shop at second-hand stores. For example, consignment shopping online has become more popular with reliable descriptions and affordable prices. Thrift stores offer a variety of brands, great fabric, vintage styles, and unique pieces that aren't available in department or specialty stores. Also, purchasing and reusing clothes saves a lot of the energy and water needed to manufacture new clothing.

Avoid purchasing statement pieces.

A statement piece in fashion is usually a colorful, eye-catching piece that is noticeable and memorable. It is typically oversized and unique. It is a statement piece because it is eye-catching and bold. A statement piece is like wearable art. However, because it is a statement piece, it is not something that you will wear repeatedly and is, therefore, not practical for most sustainable closets.

Don't fret if you cannot find your size.

Although sustainable fashion is not a new phenomenon, it is just now becoming more diverse. That means finding various sizes may be challenging for those petite or plus size individuals. If you aren't finding sustainable fashion in your size, take some time to write to the brands that are making sustainable clothing items. Inform them that you are looking but have difficulty finding your size. Writing may get you additional support so that those brands consider becoming more inclusive in sizing.

Don't purchase new clothes, rent.

If you love clothes and trends and are constantly taking pictures for social media, there are a ton of benefits to simply renting clothes. In addition to saving money, renting clothes instead of purchasing will; save on closet space. give you more of a variety of clothing, allows you to display a more lavish life, allows you to do your part with saving the environment.

Don't let ethical fashion restrict your style.

If finding sustainable fashion is difficult or what you are finding is not your style, you may have to get a sewing machine or some clothing dye and get creative. It is hard to have everything we want but compromising your fashion sense isn't necessary with extra time and effort.

Learning how sustainable fashion is in demand and keeps fashion an essential part of just about everyone's lives. Without literally speaking, our fashion choices can make a statement about our personality, willingness to achieve a level of self-expression, how influential we are, and our mood. Finding sustainable fashion can be achieved with some time and effort and using the methods mentioned above.
