Top 9 Sites to Sell Your Second-Hands

Full Closet? Here's a List of Sites to Help You Declutter

Do you have clothes and other junk just sitting around in your closet/living space just sitting and collecting dust? The first thought may be to throw away those items or just send them off to a charity shop. While the second idea isn't horrible at all (please don't throw away your stuff if you can donate, help the environment), why not take the chance to make some side cash! I have personally tested these sites so you didn't have to and talk about my experience with each. Some of these sites you may have heard of before and have heard others using before so maybe this can give you some reassurance that this is a legitimate way to make some passive income!

#1 Mercari

This site is very comparable to Ebay, it just does not have as intense of a bidding option as Ebay does. You can sell many different kinds of items on this site varying from books to tech to clothes and pretty much anything you can think of! They also only take 10% of whatever is sold which is a pretty good market fee compared to some other sites.

#2 Depop

Depop is probably the most mainstream selling site on this list. Most Instagram influences as well as other social media creators use this site to sell their items. It creates a unique experience where you can buy directly from your favorite online personality or even models and celebrities. This site is formatted much like Instagram with their follower system which can make the experience that much easier or harder for sellers. Other cool items to be found on this site and that you can sell yourself are trendy pieces as well as vintage items.

#3 Ebay

This site is the general staple and one of the first sites you may think of when it comes to selling second-hand items. Remains different most sites though due to its bidding system. Buyers can bid on a price that they'd like to purchase an item for, which can mean extra cash for you if the bid goes over what you listed!

#4 Thredup

This is an online thrift shop that is great for those who do not want to deal with the process of listing, pricing and marketing. This site will do that all for you. All you need to do is send your items to their headquarters and they will know what they can and cannot take. They give you an estimated price point as well and you can either donate the rest or get whatever was not accepted sent back to you.

#5 Poshmark

Poshmark is a very popular selling app comparable to Depop. It functions around following other sellers in the marketplace and creating communities within the app itself.

#6 Curtsy

This app is an app targeted towards college-age girls, which means you can find and easily be able to sell the most trendy pieces at the moment. They also allow buyers to message the seller questions that they have about the item which can increase your odds in selling!

#7 Refashioner

The difference between other shops and Refashioner is that Refashioner will tell you all about the story behind the clothing or accessories you are purchasing. They say that they want their customers to understand the sellers featured on their website. Some of their sellers’ stories will be printed under pseudonyms in order to protect their privacy. They are especially picky with their products because of these factors but doesn't hurt to give it a try!

#8 Leprix

Leprix is a luxury consignment shop that allows customers to shop from reputable sources. It's not an open platform for just anyone to sell, which makes the acceptance process a little tricky but it can get you a pretty penny when you do. They have a 100% authenticity guarantee which is why they are so picky with items and why the process might be a little more lengthy compared to the other sites/apps on this list.

#9 Facebook Marketplace

Facebook Marketplace runs through it's source site, Facebook, to provide a closer-knit selling experience. This can make it easier to sell to friends or other locals in your community. You can look at this site as a safer version of Craigslist.
