If there is a style trend that has stood the test of time and rejuvenates every generation that wears them is none other than the ever-loving bell bottoms for it has existed in many centuries and seen a renaissance in several decades over and over. Who could blame you for rocking these fun-loving pants? We have all had a pair at one point in our lives or another and why would that be? Because no matter who you are, how old you are and how you do, anyone can rock this awesome pair of pants.

Anatomy of the Bell Bottom

This body for all trousers is a slandering fit with tight hugging waist, hips and thighs and then flares often from the knees to a wide opening at the hem. They can be high waisted or low rise. Have pockets or have none. Nothing feels more fun, whimsical or nostalgic as wearing bell bottoms. From Navy uniforms to the 70's summer of love to their 2000's low rise millennium revival. These flared pants have walked the runway in different styles whether in funky patchwork or chic business attire.

Bell bottoms take different shapes and forms, you can customize them in bright colors and come in a variety of fabrics whether from natural fibers like linen and cotton to synthetic fibers like polyester. Just imagine yourself in velvet bell Bottoms.

Icons and their Bell Bottoms:

Many Sexy Artists have put their stamp of approval because honest they look so fine and sexy wearing them.

Cher has approved of them for as long as she has believed in love,

after love,

after love.

Michael Jackson

Michael made his debut in the classic flare bell bottoms when he was part of The Jackson 5

Elvis Presley

But Darling this I know; Happiness will follow you wherever you go.

Madonna

The queen of Pop wore bell bottoms for her Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990. Guess blonds do have more fun.

Naomi Campbell

This gorgeous super model has worn bell bottoms more than once and honestly who else could make them look so chic for a movie premiere or the red carpet?

Freddie Mercury

The queen of QUEEN knew how to look fabulously flawless.

Prince

And much like loving you through space and time, we still love to see bell bottoms in someone who knows how to rock it so good.

What makes them so Magical?

For starter they are extremely stylish, they make your derrière look great! You can customize them to from subtle flare to the outrageously large flare, you can rip them, tie dye them, stamp them, add fabric, wear them every day or for special occasions. Bell Bottoms have military roots in the Navy starting in 1800's and the trousers have been proven as survival tool when used as flotation device when thrown overboard and stranded at sea.

From there on bell bottoms have appeared in the 60's 70's 80's 90's and 2000's

You cannot think 1970's without thinking of the sepia color photographs of your awesome aunt in her Farrah Fawcett curls. This era was filled with many beautiful fashions that we still have today but the bell bottoms still reign supreme as the style that defined this decade. In the summer of love and peace, bell bottoms were an expression of rebellious youth against the conflicts of the world so every time you wear one you are making a statement much like the women and men who used surplus military uniforms and added their own style and taste. Because bell bottoms were seen as counter-culture fashion by radical peace makers, they were not easy sold in stores therefore the youths of that time would cut their own jeans and add a piece of fabric to get the groovy flare that we know and love today.

2021 Flare Alert!

So, this summer don’t be a square, go into your grandparent's cool aunt and uncle's closet and take out those gorgeous trousers that saw a generation of wonderful rebellious teens and young adults and have your booty dancing and flaunting your whimsical flare.

I for one cannot wait for 2021's summer of freedom, love and hope after 2020's Covid fashion slump.
