Swiss Watch

There is a saying, as long as you think in your mind about a number, whether tens of thousands or tens of millions of dollars, there will be a similar Swiss watch at that price range.

Why is it that the item with the size of only a few dozen mm is worth the money not everyone understands. But one fact remains undeniable, that is, the wearing of a Swiss watch from the top of the world's luxury watch brands such as Patek Philippe, Omega, Panerai, Breitling, Zenith ... is a proclamation for a professional's success and the level of a man in society.

"Why is diamond a symbol of everlasting love" can be a difficult question to answer. But "Why is the watch the symbol of a successful man?" is not so difficult to answer.

Speaking of watches, people will mention some phrases like "correct", "punctuality" and "value of time". When confronted with human values, we will find the absolute precision of professional behavior, the timeliness of trust and the principles of success - like the most intricate, elaborate mechanical system, hidden deep inside the expensive metal and gem casings of Swiss watches.

If so, why has a Swiss watch been forever a top notch? This story, if you want to explain, needs to start from a lesson in history.

In fact, Switzerland is not the first country to create watches small enough to fit into a pocket. The Germans were the first people to do that. The technology gradually spread throughout France. In the early 16th century, the influence of the religious war in France led to the fact that many refugees fled to Switzerland, and they also brought with them their knowledge and technology to make watches.

This event increased the number of watchmakers in this country. At the same time, it was in Geneva - the land of many skilled goldsmiths, the watchmaking technology brought by the French to a new peak. By the end of the 17th century, the city of Geneva had become well-known for being the master of watchmaking technology.

At the beginning of the 18th century, the Swiss were still not at the forefront of the invention of the most advanced technologies and details in watches. The British were taking the lead in this race, because at that time, British men especially liked wearing a waistcoat and wearing a tangerine watch. It was also a race between the two countries England and Switzerland on the ability to make watches.

However, by the end of the 18th century, Switzerland had a great leap forward in production, especially when applying the assembly line model, learning from the industrial revolution that was happening in across the continent. The whole process from producing small parts to storage, transportation, assembly, timer, needle placement, inspection, packaging ... are all professionalized. Only after the first 50 years of the 19th century Switzerland had 11 times the production of watches in the United Kingdom.

A long time ago, a series of technologies such as self-winding watches, or details of the pinnacle of mechanical engineering, such as the tourbillon - the technology that minimized watch deviations, regardless of the whether the engine room was placed horizontally or vertically relative to the direction of the earth's gravity - also invented by the Swiss. By this time, the Swiss watchmaking technology had reached a level that combined all three elements: sophisticated technology, mass production lines and aesthetic value.

At the end of World War II, Switzerland officially became the world's No. 1 country in watch. Not stopping at the peak, the Swiss are always at the forefront of the latest, most modern and most innovative technologies in watchmaking: from waterproof cases, to special features to support pilots and divers in the military. For several decades, Switzerland continued to produce movements with the highest frequency of oscillation, watches with the highest number of machine parts or the thinnest mechanical watches.

Swiss watches

Having proven its superior position all over the world, the Swiss continued to find ways to protect their renowned watchmaking industry.

In order to guarantee the reputation of the quality of the watches produced by this country, the Swiss even created a set of rules regarding how a watch must meet the criteria. The new label is "Swiss Made".

Firstly, the internal drive must be made in Switzerland. After that, assembly of internal components must also be done in the country. Quality control processes must also be handled by Swiss experts. And finally, 60% of the production cost of each watch must come from facilities in this very central European country.

Across the world, there is nowhere near the production line of watches with high-end mechanical equipment and a team of artisan craftsmen as powerful as Switzerland. The precision and sophistication of each component inside a Made in Swiss watch is usually of a much higher quality than all other places.

The steel used to create Swiss watches is also an alloy with extremely high resistance to corrosion and hardness, guarantee against wear-resistant indicators over time and avoid most metal allergy-related problems for wearers. Later, they continued to apply advanced materials in the process of manufacturing components such as covers, needles and internal components.

There are disconcerting views that the Swiss use gemstones in watch parts to raise prices. But if you look at the intricate structure of the internal mechanical system, you will understand that metal contact parts are easy to wear out over time. The use of gemstones that have a higher hardness and durability than metal will help ensure the stability, durability and longevity of a watch.

If you simply put the gems in to give it, then the watch created will be really awkward. If you use gemstones to increase the performance, stability and accuracy of the mechanical system inside the watch, that's the level of Switzerland.

If you only rate a Swiss watch in terms of timekeeping feature, then you will never need to care about this luxury item. But if you look at a Swiss watch that is an item that embodies the best of humanity in terms of its craftsmanship and its representation of timeless values, you will understand why a Swiss watch Si can create such a crazy craze all over the world.

They are family heirlooms, inheritance passed down from generation to generation in a family. It is also the last stage on the path of the watch collection that every boy dreams of, as if it is a fairy tale of a man in the direction of an extremely successful life.
