While your shoes might be the last thing you put on in the morning when you are getting ready for work, they definitely shouldn’t come last when it comes to style.

Shoes can totally make or break an outfit – no one will notice your awesome power suit if you have the wrong shoes on! Plus, comfort is almost just as important as style because you need to be able to survive the whole day in your kicks without dealing with things like blisters, twisted ankles or sore arches. Each office is different, and every woman is different so there is a wide variety of different shoe options that women can wear to work and match with their clothes – but here’s an overall style guide to women’s work shoes:

Pumps

Let’s start with the classic choice that everyone knows and loves (or hates) – pumps. Wearing pumps to work can be great because they can really work with anything! Pumps are a solid option in offices that are more professional or executive. You can’t really go wrong with a quality black closed-toe pump – and women who work in professional offices should definitely have a solid pair of pumps as part of their work shoe rotation. If you don’t already, it’s a good idea to go with ones that are neutral in color (black, gray, or tan), have a mid-height heel (two to three inches), and are closed-toed. With shoes like these, you’ll be the boss in no time!

Ballet Flats

Ballet fats are a great option if you are constantly on-the-go while at work and can’t stand to walk around wearing heels all day. They are also a good fit in offices that are more business-casual instead of business-professional, but there are definitely some flats out there that can work in business-professional atmospheres as well. A lot of this distinction comes down to quality, colors, and material. Leather flats are more formal than cloth ones, and some of them feature square or pointy toes to spice up the classic ballet flat look.

Oxfords

Many people think that Oxford shoes are just for men but that is definitely not the case. Women have started rocking Oxford’s lately and we couldn’t love it more! Oxford shoes show that you mean business and can really polish a look. And just because Oxford’s are traditionally worn by men doesn’t mean that all of them have to look really masculine. There are tons of professional yet feminine and stylish Oxford style shoes out there that are perfect for women to wear to the office.

Sandals

Depending on the formality of your office, sandals might be an option as work shoes as well. And while you might assume that sandals have to be casual, there are so many varieties out there that you are bound to find some that you could definitely wear in an office setting. Sandals are great because you don’t have to worry about squishing your toes into pumps and causing blisters. You can either go with a classic sandal, bright colors, or straps – either way, you are bound to make a statement with your shoes!

Loafers

Another flat shoe type is the loafer. Like Oxford, these used to be considered shoes for men but women have taken loafers and transformed them into comfortable and chic work shoes. Pointed loafers are really on-trend these days and we can see why! They instantly spice up any outfit and show that you are ready to get to work. And with no heel to speak of or annoying straps, you can walk all over the office or nail your commute with these shoes every time!
