Review of the Air Jordan 4 Starfish

Women’s Exclusive Release

I’m going to be honest, the Air Jordan 4 Starfish seemed a little fishy to me when I first saw them (pun intended). I wasn’t really feeling the material or the colorway at first. However, when I saw these in person, I fell in love almost instantly! If you’re interested, here’s everything you need to know about the Air Jordan 4 Starfish Sneaker:

1. This is a women’s exclusive shoe.

That may not matter to many, but it is something to pay attention to for sizing purposes. A lot of sneakers, especially the nicer ones, are made in men’s sizes and women usually have to convert their sizes to mens if they want the shoe. But more recently, Nike & Jordan have been making some of their best sneakers in women’s sizes. For example, the Off-White Air Jordan 4, is a very hyped sneaker that was released as a women’s shoe. In my opinion, the Air Jordan 4 Starfish is an okay way to start 2021. If you want this shoe, make sure you pick your women’s size in sneakers. Also, the shoe fits true to size to me.

2. These shoes look better in person.

The metallic mesh on the shoe gives it a different look that may take some getting used to. At first glance, the shoe could look shimmery or glittery, which can be a turn off to many. But there are also accents of smoke gray and sail on the midsole, which gives the shoe a nice touch. These may not be the shoes you pull out if you want to show off on Instagram; but these are the shoes you pull out if you want to be different. The metallic mesh material and Starfish orange will definitely attract attention. If you want a shoe that doesn’t look ordinary, this is the shoe for you.

3. The lining on the back of the shoe is a little defected.

When I got my pair and looked at other pairs online, I noticed something a little off. The back of the shoes do not look identical. The orange line that goes across the back of the shoe is a little crooked. (Yes, I can assure you that my shoes are authentic, I got them directly from Footlocker). This could have simply been a factory defect. Take a look below:

4. These shoes may be hard to style.

Depending on how you dress, this shoe may be hard to pair with certain outfits. This is definitely not the shoe that will go with just anything. But you can easily put on an all-black outfit and let your shoes be your pop of color! That’s the easiest way to go. I also think these would look really good with camo pants because orange and camo look great together. Thank me later!

5. They are not really expensive.

These shoes came out on January 22, 2021 and retailed at the price of $200. Shortly, after a release date, you can sometimes still find popular shoes floating around at malls. That’s how I got my pair; I was able to grab it at one of my local malls at the $200 price point. If you’re not having any luck finding them, trusted resale sites like StockX.com and Goat.com may have these shoes at a decent resale price. The highest I have seen the shoe resold for is $240. Of course when dealing with a reseller, you have to expect to pay a little more but $240 is not bad, especially for a resale price.

Overall, if you are looking to grow your sneaker collection and you want a shoe that is different, I believe this is the shoe for you! You definitely won’t wear this shoe everyday and that’s okay! It’s something pretty to look out and admire. This could also elevate your style and push you out of your comfort zone! If I inspired you to get the shoe, take a picture and use #MIMYC (it stands for Martina In MY Closet), I would love to see how you wear them! You can also follow me @martina.samantha_ on Instagram!
