Some outfits go too far.

They leave people's tongues wagging, eyes staring, jaws dropping.

For some Nigerian celebrities, this is what they want. They want the eyes to watch and the audience to respond. Their outfits come with so much backlash, insults, and sometimes envy. But however words are thrown their way, these celebrities don't care. In fact, they love to see the comment count going up, they love to see their names featured on the blogs. I mean, that's what the outfit is made for. It's made for conversation.

So let's talk today.

The number of controversial outfit photos I have to show you are way too many to fit into one article. So I'll be posting more photos in future parts of this series because the controversial clothes, them plenty!

To make sure you stay up-to-date and don't miss out on those new articles when they drop, be sure to like and follow my Facebook page. I already have other hot, interesting, articles that I'm sure you'll love to read. You can find those here. And like my Facebook page below.

Alright, now that you've done that, let's go ahead and look at some pictures.

1. Tiwa Savage

Self-proclaimed Number One African Bad Girl, Tiwa Savage, came under fire late last year for wearing these ripped booty shorts.

The singer who is no stranger to controversy and controversial outfits (In fact, I can and might do a whole article on her own controversial outfits alone) posted a video and photo of her rocking the outfit above to play football.

In response to the picture, fans went wild. Here are just a few of the responses:

What do you think? Do you think it's a controversial outfit or you think it's fine?

2. Chika Ike

Chika Ike turned heads when she posted earlier this year this picture. The response was overwhelming. Blogs very quickly took the picture and ran with it as a story. The picture has been liked over 120,000 times. And the responses have ranged from flattering to flat-out ruthless!

Some fans called her a "disgrace" telling her to "learn from Genny, Omotola, and d rest" while others praised her calling her "beautiful".

Either ways, she certainly brought the eyeballs and she certainly got the tongues wagging.

What do you think? Like it or hate it?

3. Dencia

Dencia is another woman who is no stranger to controversy. From her skincare company that's been accused of promoting bleaching to her controversial statements about other artistes in the industry.

But in 2013, when this picture of Dencia wearing a black top that exposed her breasts surfaced online, it caused pandemonium. Blogs and internet forums had a filled day throwing stones at the singer. They called her "trashy" and "indecent". The picture went on to become semi-viral.

What do you think? Do you think it's too provocative?

4. Seyi Shay

When Seyi Shay rocked the above outfit to the Channel O Awards in 2014, it got a lot of pushback and heat from not only fans and viewers online, but also some industry folks like Charles Novia who speaking on the dress said:

She said she wants murder and dressed like that? She got her wish. Nonsense and ingredients. Lame thinking for a lame career. Let your talent speak for you always, if you don't have it, nothing can force anyone to accept it.

You build a 'sweetheart brand' which visibly competes with a better rival and then veer off…Let me be frank: that Bad Girl/Boy image never works. You get the lunatic fringe crowd edging you on and then they switch to the next one. You wey dey don form Bad Girl/Boy becomes limp and laggard. You become useless to the present order. That's how it goes. It's what it is.

Yemi Alade, Asa, Omawunmi, Waje didn't need to be near naked to be on top. They were judged on their TALENT and made it. Commendable. Let your talent speak for you always. If you don't have it, nothing can force anyone to accept it. This business thrives on talent not tart.

While some agreed with him and others did not, Seyi herself seemed unphased by his words saying later:

I read some things about me today, I think people should focus more on themselves, than on others. Maybe he was having a rough day.

Well, what did you think of the dress?

5. Diane Russet

While attending the film premiere of Mercy Johnson's new movie, The Legend of Inikpi, former Big Brother Naija contestant Diane Russet turned heads and caused an internet uproar with her very risque outfit choice.

The reality star went ahead to post photos of the outfit on her Instagram and the response to that was very divided. Some praised her for being able to pull off the outfit, while others bashed her saying that "This isn't the Diane we know".

Well, whatever side the people fell on, it is undeniable that Diane stole the show at that movie premiere and her outfit alone brought more buzz to the movie than the movie itself.

What did you think of the outfit?

6. Tonto Dikeh

Queen of controversy, Tonto Dikeh, once again turned heads when she uploaded a picture wearing this outfit.

The picture just like everything Tonto wears and says came with a lot of reactions, most of which were negative. She was reminded of being a mother, asked how she'd feel when her son sees this, and was generally bashed and dragged across the social media front.

But in true Tonto fashion, the actress remained unphased by all of the comments and celebrated the look and her choice to wear the dress.

So what do you think? Like or hate this one?

7. Omoni Oboli

Talk about a controversy of national proportions.

When Omoni Oboli did a private screening of her movie, Being Mrs Elliott, with then President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in attendance, who would have thought the biggest news story that would come out would be her blue dress.

That infamous blue dress which Omoni had to dedicate a whole chapter in her book just to address caused so much uproar in the Nigerian news.

Because in this picture above, the president's eyes seem to be on Omoni's chest, the actress was accused of "trying to seduce the president" even though she was there with her husband. She was called a "national prostitute", "home wrecker", "slut"...there is no bad word that exists to degrade women that Omoni Oboli wasn't called.

The actress of course doesn't take those words to heart now and looks back at the moment in time with gratitude for having the ability to screen her movie in front of the president. That truly is a good way of remembering the day.

What do you think of the dress? Like or hate?
