In the ever-evolving world of smartwatches, where digital features are often in the spotlight, there are bright competitors in the health and well-being space. That is the Withings ScanWatch series. As Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch enthusiasts thrive in the digital age, Withings quietly but strongly continues to advocate for a more traditional yet health-focused approach. His recently launched ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light are testament to the brand's commitment to combining elegance with cutting-edge healthcare technology.

New ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light

The newest additions to the Withings range, ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light, bring a fresh take on smartwatches that emphasize health monitoring and sleek design. Let's take a closer look at the main features and differences between these two models. ScanWatch 2: Improved health tracking

Available in 38mm and 42mm case sizes, the ScanWatch 2 maintains its signature hybrid design that combines traditional watch hands with a 0.63-inch grayscale OLED screen. Sapphire crystal and stainless steel case and crown exude elegance. This model features an upgraded 16-channel PPG sensor, new TempTech24/7 temperature sensor, upgraded accelerometer and altimeter.

ScanWatch 2 offers a wide range of elegant colors and designs, including silver/black and silver/white combinations. The 42mm version features integrated lugs and a flat bezel, while the 38mm version features a baton-style lug design. Strap options include fluoroelastomer with a stainless steel buckle. Best of all, both models promise excellent battery life up to 30 days and water resistance up to 50 meters.

ScanWatch Light: A Simple Approach

For those looking for a slimmer version, the ScanWatch Light is an attractive option. This model features a 37mm stainless steel case with Gorilla Glass covering the dial. It retains the complexity of an OLED screen, but lacks enhanced sensor and temperature capabilities. ScanWatch Light is available in silver/black, silver/white and rose gold/sand color options.

revolutionize body temperature measurement

One of the ScanWatch 2's standout features is his groundbreaking TempTech24/7 sensor, co-developed with Swiss tech company GreenTEG. The sensor brings together four hardware components including a classic temperature sensor, a unique heat flow sensor, heart rate measurement, and exercise level tracking. The result is continuous 24/7 body temperature monitoring and understanding of temperature changes throughout the day and night.

Matthieu Menanteau, Head of Consumer Products at Withings, underscores the importance of this innovation. "Temperature is one of the most important vital signs for him, but it's the first in the world that it can be measured on the wrist instead of skin temperature. He's 24/7.

Comprehensive health upgrade

ScanWatch 2 offers a variety of health enhancements beyond temperature monitoring. Redesigned optical sensor, high dynamic range accelerometer and new screen combine with HealthSense algorithms for more accurate activity detection, heart rate variability (HRV) measurement, respiratory rate measurement and enhanced electrocardiogram (ECG) function is realized.

Additionally, Withings introduces menstrual cycle tracking with easy-to-use manual logging to extend its comprehensive healthcare package.

ScanWatch Light: Focus on the point

The ScanWatch Light retains the great design and sensors of its counterparts, but omits the advanced temperature and blood oxygen monitoring. We continue to focus on activity and sleep tracking, cycle tracking features, and continuous heart rate monitoring. FDA approval and pricing

Specifically, ScanWatch 2 is FDA cleared to detect atrial fibrillation through ECG recordings. While FDA approval is complex and ongoing, Withings remains committed to ensuring the accuracy and validity of our indicators. The ScanWatch 2 costs $350 or £320, while the ScanWatch Light costs $250 or £230. Both models will be available in October.

In a world where digital wonders often reign, the Withings ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light have proven to be health-conscious alternatives that prioritize health, style and innovation. With the groundbreaking TempTech24/7 sensor, enhanced health monitoring features, and commitment to accuracy, Withings has established itself as a leader in the smartwatch market. As technology continues to intertwine with our daily lives, the ScanWatch series offers a compelling vision of health-focused wearables that seamlessly blend form and function.
